If you would like to use your scientific knowledge to contribute to the advancement of medical knowledge and the global community, consider this: the Rockefeller University in New York, New York, was one of the first institutions in the United States established solely for biomedical research.

Rockefeller offers advanced level academics in the fields of biomedicine, chemistry and biophysics.

Its MD program is a collaborative program with the Sloan Kettering Institute and Weill Medical College that allows students to receive two years of academic instruction with three distinct research programs. Since this program is nationally renowned and receives funding from the National Institutes of Health, it is able to provide students with full tuition coverage.

Students pursuing a PhD will receive well-rounded instruction in six distinct areas:

  • Biochemistry
  • Cellular and Molecular Biology

  • Genetics
  • Neuroscience

To ensure its graduates are of the utmost quality, Rockefeller requires students to complete a variety of clinical and lab work in the school’s many labs. In addition, top scientists and researchers often give guest lectures at the Caspary Auditorium, allowing you to be on the cutting edge of scientific advancements as they occur.

When you want to take a break between classes, you can relax in Rockefeller’s Faculty and Students Club, where you can visit with other students or kick back and watch television.

No matter which program you pursue, Rockefeller is able to provide you with complete financial aid, as well as a stipend for personal finances, if you qualify. You will also receive an independent research stipend, which allows you to complete research in any of the school’s labs.

Applications are available on Rockefeller’s website. If you are pursuing a Ph.D., you must hold a bachelor’s or master’s degree from an accredited institution. All applications must submit three letters of recommendation, official postsecondary transcripts and GRE results.
