Question: SUNY Oswego pet policy?

Hello! I am applying to SUNY Oswego for next fall and would love to have my gerbils come with me. Right now I go to SUNY Canton and live in the pet wing with my gerbils. =D Anyway, I looked up the pet policy for Oswego and it says that gerbils are allowed. I am just wondering if this is still in affect and not an outdated policy. If the policy is still valid, can just anyone have a pet as long as their pet policy form is passed? Can you have a pet in any residence hall? I read that returning students get first choice, and I would be transfering, so do I have a good chance of having my gerbils there?

Best Answer

I think the policy is pretty up to date. All dorms have the same pet policy, so it shouldn't matter what building you are assigned. I don't expect that you'll have an problem with gerbils. In any case, there have been rare exceptions to their policy...I remember in one instance a student wanted to have a pet that wasn't expressly allowed in the pet policy so the "Hall Council" of her dorm was allowed to vote on whether the pet would be accepted in the building. She didn't have any problems. you can always email Residence life and housing at Oswego.
