Reviews for University of San Diego
A lot has changed since I went to USD and I imagine it's even better than when I was there. NO shortage of money means a beautiful campus, great facilities and some really inspiring professors. On-campus life was probably the one thing I would hope has improved. I moved off campus my sophmore year, which was probably too early. But there just wasn't enough to keep me on campus. I was not really into the whole Greek thing, even though I rushed and there just didn't seem to be much in terms of on campus activities (or at least there wasn't enough done to advertise them.) BEAUTIFUL campus. Heaven. Make the most of it.
Class sizes were great, I had the pleasure of meeting some really great professors in the humanities, philosophy and theology departments. Professors give personalized attention if you seek it out. Advisor program is also great..you get out of it what you put in.
USD is kind of an island. A lot of the social life is in the bars of Mission Beach, which is kind of a shame. If I could do it again, I would've lived on campus longer, I think the co-ed dorms (The "Valley" was what it was called when I was there) had the benefit of a naturally evolving "community" feel that inspired lasting friendships. Can't think of a safer place to be. Greek is there if you want it, but doesn't dominate. I can't speak to the athletics department, but hear great things about the Jenny Craig facility.
I liked the small class sizes, I liked how close the dorms were to campus and the new dining facilities as well as the amazing study abroad programs I traveled to Jamaica and the program was so much fun I got to know my professors better and learn avout another culture
Professors were very helpful when writing recommendations for graduate study they Make a point of remembering you and helping you the courses were challenging but good I didn't like having to take three religion courses
I liked how close the beach was to school and how many stores were close so was public transportation There was a bazaar on campus weekly that was great and there were games to attend and dances or other activities thrown by clubs
