From the time the student enters until the time the student leaves, the development of the student and the preparation of students intellectually, socially, and personally to function effectively in a global and technological society is the number one priority of Jarvis Christian College. Our goal is not only to teach the students the skills and knowledge that they need but to teach them to think.

For nearly 100 years, Jarvis Christian College has served as a beacon, guiding many men and women to academic and professional heights that they may not have ever considered possible. The process of motivating, educating, and molding young scholars is an honor that is not taken lightly by any of the dedicated faculty, staff, and administrators of the College.

At Jarvis Christian College education involves the whole person. We offer over 30 registered clubs, teams and organizations for our current students. Special events help stimulate the academic year. Jarvis Christian College is an independent four year, historically black college affiliated with the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ). It is located in Hawkins, Texas. It was founded in 1912, and is currently headed by President Cornell Thomas.

History

Built by Thomas Buchanan Frost in 1912 with only a mule cart and his own will. The Jarvis' commissioned him to build the school after he graduated from their institution in Mississippi.

Athletics

Jarvis Christian College has appeared in the NAIA Men's Division I Basketball Tournament three times (2003, 2008, and 2009.)
