Draughons Junior College is a career college owned by Daymar Colleges Group of Owensboro, Kentucky, which is owned by brothers Mark and Damien Gabis. Draughons Junior College is accredited by the Accrediting Council for Independent Colleges and Schools (ACICS), and state-licensed in Kentucky, Tennessee, Ohio, Indiana and Missouri, which makes it eligible for Title IV of the Higher Education Act.
Originally called Draughons Practical Business College, Draughons Junior College was founded in 1879, by John F. Draughon, of Adams, Tennessee. He realized that there was a need for people to be trained in business. Initially, classes were offered on wheels. The first permanent school was established in Nashville, Tennessee around the beginning of the 1900s. The school prospered and by the time of Draughon's death in 1921, had a chain of business colleges stretching across the south and western parts of the United States.
Draughons Junior College campuses are located in Clarksville, Nashville, and Murfreesboro in Tennessee; Bowling Green Albany, Clinton, Paducah, Scottsville, and Russellville in Kentucky; and Rockport in Indiana.
Draughons Junior College offers both one- and two-year programs in business, law enforcement, paralegal, and healthcare. Other classes and careers offered include accounting, bookkeeping, computer information technology, e-commerce engineer, and Microsoft support engineer.
