UNCC Description
University of North Carolina Charlotte is ideal for those wanting strong undergraduate or graduate academics as well as numerous academic, extracurricular, cultural and social opportunities. Located in the pleasing mid-sized city of Charlotte, UNC has seven professional colleges offering more than 150 programs at the undergraduate and graduate levels.
Some of these programs have received a high national ranking. For example, U.S. News and World Report has ranked all the schools of Health, Business and Engineering at UNC Charlotte in the top of their fields.
UNC’s academic strength extends into other departments as well: the College of Arts and Architecture offers degree programs in Art, Art History, Architecture, Theatre, Music and Dance. These departments give students the chance to perform and show their craft in highly attractive venues. The Robinson Hall for the Performing Arts, for example, hosts student concerts and plays. There is also an art gallery which exhibits student work.
Students are given numerous academic, career-oriented and cultural opportunities while at UNC Charlotte. There are chances to study abroad in such places as Turin, Italy. There are also internship and volunteer opportunities in one’s chosen field of study.
Student services are just as extensive as everything else at UNCC. There is a student health center as well as numerous academic, career and mental health counseling options.
Student organizations include religious, political, arts and academic clubs for the graduate and undergraduate student. There are also a number of athletic teams and plenty of sororities and fraternities to pledge.
Students can attend UNCC part-time or full-time. The University has both on-campus housing and meal plans for those who need them.
Financial aid is available in the form of loans, grants, scholarships and work-study for eligible undergraduate students. Graduate students may quality for fellowships.
