Mount Angel Seminary
1 Abbey Dr, Saint Benedict, OR 97373
Description
Mount Angel Seminary in St. Benedict, Oregon trains future priests in a uniquely integrated way that combines spiritual life and study with academics, social activities, and creative opportunities.
Located in the picturesque Willamette Valley, Mount Angel offers an ideal setting to those studying for the contemplative, spiritual life.
The primary focus of the program is, of course, spiritual. Students engage in scriptural study groups and worship and attend mass services and prayer groups.
However, academics also factor into the Mount Angel experience, with students taking classes in the Arts and Humanities.
Another integral part of the intensely spiritual and academic nature of the program is the extracurricular activities. Seminarians perform plays, host talent shows, have socials and even play sports as a way to nurture all aspects of the self.
Those interested in gaining admission to the school must undergo an intensive screening, which includes interviews with church authorities. They must also complete a psychological assessment. More than anything, applicants must demonstrate their commitment to the religious life and Catholic order.
