Rensselaer Graduate School in Hartford, Connecticut, is the graduate division of the prestigious Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI). Academics at Rensselaer Graduate School are rigorous, research-based and collaborative.

RPI’s main campus is a highly selective institution that has received extensive praise from numerous publications. In recent years, Newsweek magazine even referred to RPI as a “New Ivy.”

RPI’s graduate school is equally reputable. Programs are rigorous and competitive, and many of them intensely research-based.

Rensselaer Graduate School awards master’s degrees through three departmental divisions. These are:

  • The Department of Engineering and Science
  • The Department of Management and Technology
  • The Department of Executive and Professional Development

Individual majors include:

  • Business Administration
  • Computer Science
  • Information Technology
  • Mechanical Engineering
  • Software Engineering

Many of Rensselaer’s graduate programs use the cohort method of learning. Cohorts are groups of students who take all of their classes together for the duration of the program.

Materials required for admissions include an application, transcripts, a statement of professional purpose, letters of recommendation and test scores. Individual departments may have additional requirements.

Students may apply for financial aid by filling out a FAFSA. Eligibility requirements for loans include previous loan history and financial need. Rensselaer also participates in tuition assistance programs for veterans.
