At the Brown Mackie College system of schools, you don’t need to wait for “Fall
Start” to begin your education.

We offer new starts each month with day or evening classes that fit your schedule. Each class lasts one month. There’s no need to divide your time and energy between coursework and exams for multiple courses. We keep the focus on one course, one subject at a time to help you succeed.

Associate's Level Programs

  • Accounting Technology

    The Accounting Technology program is designed to prepare graduates for entry-level employment in account positions in a variety of business organizations. Students have an opportunity to receive a solid foundation in accounting and business principles and general education. Upon successful completion of the program, students are expected to: Post debits and credits; produce financial statements; prepare reports and summaries; prepare invoices; compute interest charges; generate financial spreadsheets; post journal transactions; handle payroll; produce business-related documents; operate a variety of computer software programs. Entry-level employment opportunities: Accounting Clerk. Bookkeeping Clerk, Payroll Clerk, Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable Auditing Clerk
  • Business Management

    The Business Management program is designed to prepare graduates for entry-level employment and the business field. Students have an opportunity to receive a solid foundation in management principles and business technology, computer operations, and general education. Through a successful completion of the program, students will have learned to: Manage a small business; manage a payroll; apply marketing and advertising principles; produce presentation materials in PowerPoint; generate spreadsheets; utilize human resource practices; communicate effectively, orally and in writing; prepare written reports; use the Internet to communicate with clients and co-workers. Entry-level employment opportunities may exist in the areas of Office Management. Sales, Administrative Assistant, Human Resources, Assistant Account Representative, Customer Service Representative, and Entrepreneur/Self-Employment. Brown Mackie College - Kansas City and Brown Mackie College - Salina both offer the Business Management program in a Saturday Blended Delivery format, which combines the classroom experience with online interactions. This format offers students the opportunity to attend classes on campus only on Saturdays and online for a few days during the week, in hopes of giving them more time for other commitments such as work and family.
  • Computer Aided Design and Drafting Technology

    The Computer Aided Design and Drafting program is designed to prepare graduates for entry-level positions in CADD operations. The program offers a combination of mechanical and computer-aided drafting and design skills for application in a variety of industries. Upon successful completion of the program, students are expected to: Prepare detail drawings; Prepare assembly drawings; Draw machinery and mechanical devices; Use manual drawing/drafting board; Operate and utilize CADD software; Indicate dimensions and fastening methods; Produce solid model drawings; Operate a variety of computer software programs. Entry-level Employment Opportunities: Mechanical Drafter, Layout Drafter Designer, Assistant Solid Modeling Drafter.
  • Computer Networking and Applications

    The Computer Networking and Applications programs are designed to prepare graduates for entry-level positions in computer network administration. The student has an opportunity to receives a solid foundation in computer concepts and applications as well as business and general education courses. The Microsoft-based curriculum offers preparation for the testing required for MCSE certification*. Upon successful completion of the program, students are expected to: Provide day-to-day on-site support in a work environment; Design and implement networks; Maintain hardware and software; Monitor and analyze networks; Identify, interpret, and evaluate system and network requirements. Entry-level Employment Opportunities: Computer Support Specialist, Help Desk Technician, Computer Operator, Computer Networking Technician, Intranet Networking Technician, Systems Analyst Technician.
  • Criminal Justice

    The Criminal Justice program is designed for criminal justice practitioners who want to enhance their career potential, for those in other occupations looking to make a change, and for high school graduates preparing for a future in the criminal justice field.
  • Health Care Administration

    The Health Care Administration program is designed to prepare students to understand the essential components of managerial and organizational support in the healthcare industry. Students will have an opportunity to learn how various healthcare systems operate and the multiple aspects of the field. At the same time, they will receive hands-on training in the administrative facets of healthcare services for the general public. Graduates of this program will be prepared for entry-level positions in hospitals, clinics, healthcare insurance offices, home healthcare agencies, public health settings, and other healthcare-related organizations.
  • Medical Assisting

    The Medical Assisting program is designed to prepare graduates to work under the direction of physicians in a private practice or medical setting. Students have an opportunity to develop a solid foundation in communication and problem solving skills through general education coursework. Students also have an opportunity to develop a strong foundation in administrative and clinical procedures including: Diagnostic testing; Venipuncture; Patient education for disease management; CPR certification; Basic pharmacological procedures; Patient history; Medical records; and filing Medical Office Management; Assisting with minor surgery. Entry-level employment opportunities: Medical Assistant, Medical Office Manager, Phlebotomist, EKG Technician, Pharmacy Tech, Medical Receptionist. Graduates of this program are prepared to pursue Registered Medical Assistant or Certified Medical Assistant certification.
  • Paralegal

    The Paralegal program is designed to prepare graduates for entry-level employment with attorneys and in law firms. Students have an opportunity to develop a solid foundation in communication and problem-solving skills through general education coursework. The coursework covers fundamentals of paralegal responsibilities including: Application of business law principles in the normal course of business; Providing assistance to the attorney during trial; Researching legal records; Proper utilization of investigative skills; Drafting of basic contracts, mortgages, separation agreements, and trust instruments. Entry-level employment opportunities may exist in: Paralegal or Legal Assistant, with possible areas of specialization including litigation; probate law; criminal law; general practice; corporate law; Parole Officer; Title Examiner; Court Clerk; and Self-employed contract professional.
  • Pharmacy Technology

    Students in the Pharmacy Technology program have an opportunity to learn how to work with and under the direction of pharmacists in an office or other medical setting. The program curriculum delves into studies in pharmacy procedures, anatomy and physiology, medical terminology, and medical administrative practices. In addition, general education and business classes can help students to grow professionally.
  • Surgical Technology

    The program in Surgical Technology is designed to provide students with the required knowledge base and technical skills required to pursue entry-level employment in the field of surgical technology. To achieve this goal, the program curriculum provides study in general and specialty surgical procedures, principles of anesthesia, anatomy and physiology, medical terminology, and surgical technology techniques.
  • Veterinary Technology

    The Veterinary Technology program is designed to provide students with the knowledge and skills leading to entry-level employment in a variety of veterinary clinical settings and related fields. Graduates of this program will be prepared to provide a wide range of clinical skills including animal patient care, laboratory procedures, medical imaging, anesthesia administration and monitoring, and surgical assistance for a variety of domestic animals.

    The Computer Aided Design and Drafting Technician diploma program is designed to prepare graduate with the necessary technical knowledge and skills for entry-level positions in CADD operations. The programs provide the student with a combination of mechanical and computer-aided drafting and design skills, as well as business and technical coursework, to meet the demand for these applications in a variety of industries.
  • Criminal Justice

    The Criminal Justice program is designed for criminal justice practitioners who want to enhance their career potential, for those in other occupations looking to make a change, and for high school graduates preparing for a future in the criminal justice field.
  • Medical Assistant

    The Medical Assistant program is designed to provide graduates with the skills necessary to obtain entry-level employment in a clinical and/or administrative medical setting. The program is designed to prepare graduates for entry-level positions under the direct supervision of a physician or medical office manager through coursework in medical office administration, clinical procedures, and pharmacology, as well as in business principles and computer operations.
  • Paralegal Assistant

    The Paralegal Assistant program is designed to prepare students to work directly under the supervision of an attorney in entry-level positions for legal offices and firms. The objective of the program is to train students in performing legal research and writing, and various areas of law. This objective is met through legal, business, and technical coursework.
  • Practical Nursing

    The program in Practical Nursing balances classroom instruction with clinical experience. Students receive a solid foundation in the areas of medical-surgical nursing, pediatrics, obstetrics, geriatrics, and pharmacology. Graduates of this program are prepared to pursue the LPN State Board licensure.
