At Big Sandy Community and Technical College in you can train for a career in a matter of weeks, get basic skills training, earn a professional associate’s degree or prepare to transfer to a four-year school.

Located in Prestonburg, Kentucky, Big Sandy has several other campuses throughout the region.

In just a short amount of time, students in the Workforce Training division may get certified in Phlebotomy, Bank Telling, Pharmacy Tech, and other fields.

Those who would like to invest a year or two can earn an associate’s degree or certificate in Automotive Technology, Cosmetology, Dental Assisting, Electrical Technology, Nursing and Respiratory Care, among others.

A General Studies degree program is also available for those who would like to transfer to one of Kentucky’s four-year colleges or universities.

A number of other programs, including classes for senior citizens, ESL courses, GED prep and youth programs are also offered at Big Sandy.

However, Prestonburg is not just academics. Student life activities include an online literary journal, and religious, cultural, recreational and performing arts clubs.

When applying for admission, students must submit transcripts and take a placement test.

Scholarships, loans, work-study and payment plans are available to students who meet certain criteria.
