gmc Description

Georgia Military College (GMC) Columbus campus is an institution for higher learning that offers two-year degree programs, and a curriculum with a military training element.

For over a century, GMC has been providing students with a liberal arts education. The majority of those who attend the school are commuters who do not need to wear uniforms and participate in special military programs. Classes for commuters are available during weekdays, weeknights and weekends.

Admissions requirements for commuter students include filling out an enrollment application and paying the application fee, submitting official transcripts, and taking a placement exam. Those who have acceptable ACT or SAT test scores may be able to skip the placement test if the tests were taken within five years of enrollment.

There are several options for financial aid at GMC, and those who are interested can start the process by filling out a FAFSA. Results from the FAFSA can be discussed with financial aid advisors.

Students at GMC can earn an associate’s degree in the following types of majors:

  • Business Administration
  • Criminal Justice
  • Early Childhood Education
  • Health and Physical Education
  • Homeland Security and Emergency Management
  • Information Technology
  • Pre-Nursing
  • Social Work

GMC encourages students to balance their academics with non-academic involvements. That is why college life at the school is filled with opportunities for participation in athletics, leadership, recreational events, social activities, and more.
