YC Description
On East Sheldon Street in Prescott, Arizona lies Yavapai College, which offers over 80 different subjects of study in order to earn a certificate or associate’s degree.
Among the many programs taught on the Yavapai campus are Accounting, Automotive Technician, Creative Writing, Digital Filmmaking, Early Childhood Education, Fire Science, Gunsmithing, Justice Studies, Nursing, Professional Pilot, Small Business Entrepreneurship, and Viticulture.
In order to best serve its students academically, Yavapai has a learning center with tutoring services available to any student as well as a computer lab and workshops that teach study skills.
There is also a testing center to help prepare students for all sorts of important tests such as the GED, nursing preadmission test, and English/math skills assessment.
The career skills program teaches career exploration, personal assessment, career networking, mock interviews, computer skills, study skills, time management, and goal-setting for students looking to get a leg up on the job search.
Financial aid offered to eligible students includes the Pell Grant, Federal Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grant, Native American Grants, student loans, veteran’s services, and plenty of scholarships.
Of the scholarship options, there is the Anonymous Music Scholarship, Arizona Community Foundation Fund, Yavapai College Champions Scholarship and, many more, each designed to fit the needs of different types of students whether they are academic achievers or are interested in studying a certain subject.
