Boston Baptist College

School Description

Provided by Boston Baptist College

Boston Baptist College has, for more than two decades, been equipping men and women for church ministry both in the United States and abroad. Under the leadership of Dr. A.V. Henderson, who served as the first President, and Dr. John Rawlings, then President of the Baptist Bible Fellowship International, Boston Baptist College (originally Baptist Bible Institute East and later Baptist Bible College East) was established in Shrub Oak, New York in 1976. Out of a deep concern for the mammoth population centers along America's northeastern seaboard, churches and church leaders from across the country joined together to raise up a college that would emphasize the historic fundamentals of the Christian faith. Coupled with that doctrinal commitment was a resolute mindset to build a college that would recognize the biblically ordained role of the Scriptural church in God's redemptive plan. Soul winning and Baptist church planting were at the very core of the founder's design. Within a year of its inception, the school was designated as an approved training facility by the Baptist Bible Fellowship International.

Boston Baptist College

From Wikipedia, The Free Encyclopedia

Boston Baptist College is a Bible college located between Hyde Park and Milton, Massachusetts. It is the only Bible college to be recognized by the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.

History

Boston Baptist was founded in 1976 by A.V. Henderson and John Rawlings of Baptist Bible Fellowship International as Baptist Bible Institute East at Shrub Oak, New York.

In 1981, the school moved to its present location in Boston. At the time of the move, the school was considered a branch campus of Baptist Bible College in Springfield, Missouri.

Beginning in 1993, the school began operating as a separate entity and ceased being a branch campus of Baptist Bible College in Springfield.

In 1996, the school received accreditation from the Transnational Association of Christian Colleges and Schools, a "product of the ICR Graduate School," created "because of the prejudice against creation-science, outspoken creationist schools such as ICRGS used to stand little or no chance of getting recognition through accreditation."

In 2002, the name was changed from Baptist Bible College East to Boston Baptist College. Officially, the name was changed in order to distance the College from other universities throughout the country that operated under the name of Baptist Bible college, although the name was also taken to reflect its location.

Academics

Boston Baptist offers BA and AA degrees in Biblical Studies only.
