San Jose City College, founded in 1921, is a community college located in the city of San Jose, Santa Clara County, California.

San Jose City College originally operated in downtown San Jose. San Jose Unified School District took over the College’s operation in 1953, moving it to its present 2100 Moorpark Avenue location, overlooking Interstate 280. The name changed to San Jose City College in 1958.

Mission

The mission statement of the college is as follows: "The mission of San Jose City College is to prepare and empower students for success in a global multicultural society. With the fostering of student learning as its primary focus, the College provides continuous access to a wide range of comprehensive and flexible post secondary academic and occupational programs that prepare Silicon Valley residents of all ages and backgrounds for balanced and productive lives and successful careers. Athletics

San José City College is home to Jagsports. Over the past seven decades Jaguar athletes have gone on to become Olympic champions and world record holders. City College promotes athletic excellent through world-class coaching and facilities. Our $1.7 million capital improvements plan includes a new weight and fitness training complex which is open now to all students, and contains only the most modern weight and cardiovascular equipment.
