Collin County Community College District

From Wikipedia, The Free Encyclopedia

The Collin County Community College District is a community college district which serves Collin and Rockwall Counties, located north and northeast of Dallas. Founded in 1985, the district has grown as the county has grown: from around 5,000 students in 1986 to about 44,000 in 2007. Also within 2007 the college rebranded itself and is now known purely as "Collin College".

As defined by the Texas Legislature, the official service area of CCCCD is comprised of the following:

  • all of Collin and Rockwall Counties, and
  • those portions of Denton County within the cities of Frisco and The Colony, and those portions of the county included within the Celina, and Prosper school districts.

Campuses

The Central Park Campus in McKinney, is undergoing a major expansion. The current building will be renovated, and will feature a multi-story parking garage, library and clock tower. The new Jeffersonian-style library will total 73,500 square feet and will be larger than the college's Preston Ridge Campus library in Frisco. The official groundbreaking took place Aug. 28.

The school features six campuses in Allen, McKinney, Frisco, two in Plano and one in Rockwall, which is actually located in neighboring Rockwall County, not Collin County.

These schools are:

  • Collin College@ALLEN
  • Central Park Campus
  • Courtyard Center
  • Higher Education Center at Rockwall
  • Preston Ridge Campus
  • Spring Creek Campus
  • Higher Education Center McKinney (Open By Spring 2010)
  • Farmersville (Future Campus Site which already has signs stating whats to come)
