The Mission of the University
Fordham University, the Jesuit University of New York, is committed to the discovery of Wisdom and the transmission of Learning, through research and through undergraduate, graduate and professional education of the highest quality. Guided by its Catholic and Jesuit traditions, Fordham fosters the intellectual, moral and religious development of its students and prepares them for leadership in a global society.
Fordham University is a private university in the United States, with three campuses located in and around New York City. It was founded by the Diocese of New York in 1841 as St. John's College, placed in the care of the Society of Jesus shortly thereafter, and has since become an independent institution under a lay Board of Trustees that describes the University as being "in the Jesuit tradition." Fordham is one of the largest among the 28 member institutions in the Association of Jesuit Colleges and Universities, and is home to a large Jesuit community of the New York Province of the Society of Jesus.
Enrollment at Fordham University includes more than 8,000 undergraduate students and 7,000 graduate students spread over three campuses in New York State: Rose Hill in The Bronx, Lincoln Center in Manhattan, and Marymount in Tarrytown. The University also offers programs in the People's Republic of China and the United Kingdom. Fordham awards bachelor's (BA, BFA, and BS), master's, and doctoral degrees.
Fordham University is composed of four undergraduate colleges and six graduate schools, including the tier-1 Fordham Graduate School of Social Service and the particularly selective tier-1 Fordham School of Law. "Tier-1" law schools are popularly understood to be the top 50 schools as listed in U.S. News and World Report magazine. The claim that the school is "particularly selective" comes from the fact that, though the school is ranked 25th, the acceptance rate is the 15th lowest in the country The University offers a BA/BS engineering program in cooperation with Columbia University and a BFA degree program for dance in partnership with the Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater.

Academically speaking, Fordham is much better then St. Johns.
For those who want to part, St. Johns is the place to go.
Fordham has a really good career services and graduate program though!
Go with Fordham.

Right in New York - a very good school. Not quite the equivalent of the Ivies, but very respectable. The Lincoln Center campus is right in downtown Manhattan!

I think you look pretty good for admittance, but not so good for a scholarship. I guess it depends on how they look at your current school and the particular courses you took.
Fordham is a great school, underrated in my opinion. I'm sure you'll have a great time there. FCLC is a fabulous location!!!

I was there not too long ago. Rose Hill is very nice, it is the nicest college campus in the NY city area - lawns and trees. The campus is surrounded by a secure fence with security guards. Outside the fence is NY city - but it is not too bad. On one side is a huge park with a giant zoo, and on the other side is a city neighborhood with lots of stores and restaurants and everything you would see in a city. It is not a bad neighborhood. Middle class city stuff. You can get on a train right outside the campus and go right down into the heart of Manhattan.
For a city school, it is pretty nice.

They have a good website that tells a lot about the school. Check it out.
Fordham is a very respectable school in New York. They have a campus in the Bronx - it's very nice - really, the nicest campus of any NY city school. And they have another campus in midtown right across from the Lincoln Center arts area.
Fordham is run by the Catholic Jesuits, but you do not have to be Catholic to go there. The admission is rather selective... you have to be a good solid B+ - A- student to get in.
I liked this school a lot when my kids visited it, but they wound up going to other schools.

I was thinking about that too...From what I've read thus far, Lincoln Center offers a fast-paced, exciting cultural network that allows you engage a breadth experiences. RoseHill, is much more quiet, but nonetheless still very much exciting. I would imagine its appeal lies in its traditional college atmosphere, where you're in a close-knit community with like minded inviduals with different and similiar backgrounds. You really can't go wrong with either college. I hope that made sense.
I'm currently applying to Fordham.

yea i go to rose hill and im in the business program. the dorms for freshmen aren't that great, but they could be worse. the business program is pretty competitive, students here are pretty serious about their work. and as for the social life, it's pretty easy to make friends and meet new ppl. there are a bunch of bars nearby, and the campus is close to the city so u could go clubbing or drinking or watever u wanna do there.

I am from Brazil and I am choosing the best school to go for after I get my bachelor degree in here. Does anyone know that school?

It has a good reputation, especially if you are a devout Catholic. It's not much of a party school, and the Portuguese-language community in New York is not enormous. But New York is very expensive. You might also look into the similar Marquette University, in Milwaukee; similar climate, but much less expensive (in a smaller city, but close to Chicago).
