Description

A career training, college prep and mentorship program for under served youth is one of the more outstanding programs offered at Otsego Area Occupational Center in Milford, New York.

Entitled College for Every Student, this program assists at-risk high school seniors to prepare for college and acquire career skills, while also receiving counseling and guidance. A program with a track record of great success nearly 100% of College for Every Student graduates go on to attend a community college or four year school.

In addition to this program, Otsego offers hands-on training programs in some of today’s most in-demand careers including Culinary Arts, Health And Medical Occupations, Criminal Justice, Information Technologies and Welding.

One of Otsego’s most popular programs is the Practical Nursing program, which runs from September to June and is available to students with a high school diploma or equivalent.

With a hands-on approach students at Otsego get to practice, use and perfect their skills while still in school. The Cosmetology program, for example, allows students under instructor to cut, style and color hair, perform manicures and pedicures, and perform other hair, skin and nail services.

Student organizations such as SkillsUSA and Health Occupations Students of America also help students to put their skills and training into practice.

Financial aid sources include merit scholarships and loans for eligible students. These and other sources may be discussed with a financial aid counselor at the school.
