At just under 500,000 people (2020 US Census), Colorado Springs is the second-largest in the state behind Denver. Much like Denver, there are several college options in “Springs,” and 4-seasons of fun to enjoy, especially for the outdoor types.

Also like Denver, Colorado Springs is more than a mile above sea level and day trips to Pike’s Peak are regular occurrences for students in Colorado Springs. There is also a large military presence in Colorado Springs (with plenty of civilian employment opportunities), including the largest Space Force base and the United State Air Force Academy (a 4-year college, but a much different experience).

Events and beer are also popular, as are events with beer… some of the annual events that bring people to Colorado Springs are the Labor Day Lift Off hot air balloon fest and one of the biggest Pride parades in the west.
