Fort Myers, Florida is located on the Gulf side of the state about 3/4ths of the way down. Tourism is a large part of the economy, just like most of Florida, and temperatures vary from the mid-70s in the winter to the mid-90s in the summer.

Fort Myers regularly gets more than 300 days of sun per year, and the beaches are beautiful, albeit crowded. The downtown area is equally nice to look at, with classic and historic architecture and many parks to relax in.

College students may want to note that there isn’t much public transportation, but if you have a way to get around, there are a lot of ways to have fun in and around Fort Myers.

There is plenty of good to get to, but starting with the bad: If you don’t like hot, southern Florida is probably not a good place to go to college. Other than that and some bugs, though, Fort Myers is a great college town. It’s spread out, affordable, close to beautiful beaches, and also has a surprisingly large live entertainment scene, with some help from the tourists, of course!
