Dayton, OH

Dayton is a large manufacturing city about 50 miles north of Cincinnati. With a population of 137,000 as of the 2020 Census, the city’s growing economy also involves a lot of research and development in the aeronautical and industrial industries, spearheaded by companies that do business with the government at the Wright-Patterson Air Force Base.

Dayton University isn’t the only large college in the city of Dayton, though, and its public university counterpart is Wright State, named after the Brothers in Flight. Both campuses offer similar “feels” and the city is large enough for plenty of entertainment but small enough to be accessed by students wherever they choose to study. 

Community Colleges in Dayton, OH

The largest community college in Ohio is in Dayton, Sinclair Community College. In addition to the two colleges above, Sinclair also has 4-year degree programs in Dayton. Specialized schools in Dayton include the Ohio Medical Career College, The International College of Broadcasting, the Dayton School of Medical Massage, and The Creative Images Institute of Cosmetology.

Nicknamed “The Gem City,” Dayton is full of opportunities to enjoy nature, with many parks and hiking trails within the city and just beyond its borders. The cost of living is also quite low, especially compared to some of the other college destination cities in Ohio.
