“OKC” is the capital city of Oklahoma, as well as the largest city in the state with approximately 700,000 people. When it was founded, it was primarily used as a livestock market and shipping center. It’s located pretty much in the center of the United States and is also a hub for oil and natural gas production. The Federal Aviation Administration is also located in Oakland, and several other government entities double as places where college students can get internships and, eventually jobs.

Oklahoma City has well over 1 million residents in the greater OKC area, yet still maintains a cost of living that is below the national average. Usually, population equates to higher costs of living, but OKC is unique in its population-to-cost ratio, making it very intriguing to many college students who want a city experience without the costs of NYC or Los Angeles. 

The weather is also something that draws people to OKC, with winter average temperatures right around 50 degrees. The summers do get very hot, but there are plenty of places to find some relief, especially near the river that runs through the center of the city and has several bars and restaurants at its edge. OKC has more museums than any other city in Oklahoma, and it’s also home to several top-tier sports teams, including the NBA’s Oklahoma City Thunder.
