Scholarship Criteria
Applicant must be a permanent resident of Massachusetts who is enrolled as a student at an accredited two- or four-year college or university in the state of Massachusetts with a minimum cumulative 3.0 GPA on a 4.0 scale. Applicant must be a student entering the second year of a two-year school, or junior or senior year of undergraduate study in the fall of the calendar year of application. Undergraduate students must be enrolled in a tourism-specific program or area of focus, or a hospitality program with a focus on travel and tourism. A minimum of 30 credit hours must be completed for a two-year school; 60 credit hours for a four-year school by May in order to be eligible. Application, scanned copy of driver's license (or passport) as proof of permanent residency, resume, two letters of recommendation (from academic and professional tourism-related individuals), official transcript, and a scanned two-page original essay are required to be submitted. Required essay question: ?Discuss what segment of the travel and tourism or hospitality industry your current program of study focuses on. What opportunities are you taking advantage of as you prepare for a career in the industry? Please tell us about your academic and extracurricular activities and experiences, i.e. work, internships, etc., and how they tie into your present and future goals." Award will be sent to the recipient's financial aid office for the fall semester to cover tuition, books, and educational fees only.
