With such a wide range of possible fields of study and careers, the list of biology scholarships is a long one. There are hundreds of scholarships available, whether they’re school-specific or open to anyone with an interest in biological sciences.

For graduate students or recent grads, there are a number of fellowships and paid internships available as well, often in fields related to medical research.

Those pursuing graduate studies or a career post-graduation should look into the many fellowships offered. For example, those with an interest in researching lung disease should consider the ALA Research Training Fellowship, which awards more than $30,000.

Undergraduates and graduates alike can apply to a wide selection of scholarships, ranging anywhere from $100 in award amounts to more than $20,000.

For example, the Pre-Professional Biology Scholarship at Waynesburg College awards $2,000 to accomplished undergrads. The Energy Solutions Foundation Scholarship, on the other hand, is non-school-specific and awards thousands of dollars to students as early along as 10th grade.

Applying for Biology Scholarships

Biology and biological science programs are often academically competitive, so many scholarships will require a GPA of around a 3.0 to 3.5 to apply. Some will require specific majors, and many fellowships will require a specific research area.
