Types of Business Scholarships

Despite the fact that business tends to be a profitable major (in a good job market, anyway), there are still plenty of financial aid opportunities for those with an interest in business.

Most of the grant-type financial aid awards available to business majors will be in the form of scholarships, with many of them being school-specific scholarships. However, there are also some fellowships available.

Popular Scholarships for Business Majors

You may find higher award amounts in business scholarships than many other fields, possibly because those granting the awards have more funding, or possibly because of the importance of entrepreneurship in America.

The Frederick and Marguerite Hulme Scholarship, for example, grants eligible University of Calgary students in the joint law/business program an award of $7,500.

Even bigger than that is the Scarlett Family Foundation Scholarship, which grants as much as $15,000 to an eligible business major from middle Tennessee.

Applying for Business Scholarships

Many scholarships will require a minimum GPA, usually somewhere between 2.5 and 3.5. Some school-specific scholarships will consider students automatically, but often an application is required. Some scholarships will even require an interview, which will be good practice for a business major!
