Engineering Scholarships

With so many different areas within the overall umbrella of general engineering, the career opportunities for an engineering major are numerous. Mechanical engineering, chemical engineering, civil engineering and other facets are all possibilities.

But sometimes engineering can require graduate study, or just a lot of time in class, meaning that financial aid is a must. Luckily, there are many engineering scholarships out there.

Types of Engineering Scholarships

You’ll find a wide variety of financial aid awards for engineers in our scholarship directory, from fellowships to grants to institutional scholarships.

A number of scholarships are not school-specific, so students who have not yet chosen a college can still find aid.

Additionally, engineering students will often qualify for general science scholarships, increasing the number of options available.

Popular Scholarships for Engineers

Students as young as 10th grade can apply for the Energy Solutions Foundation Scholarship, which awards up to $25,000 to students in a scientific field.

Older students pursuing graduate studies might want to consider the National Science Foundation Graduate Research Fellowship, which awards $30,000 to those just beginning their post-baccalaureate studies.

Schools with a wide selection of institutional scholarships for science and engineering majors include Clemson University, the University of Tennessee and many other state and private schools.

Applying for Engineering Scholarships

Since engineering is such an academically challenging field, many engineering scholarships will require a high minimum GPA for eligibility. Additional age or geographical requirements may apply.
