School-specific scholarships will often range higher in award amounts, such as the iSchool scholarship from Abilene Christian University, which awards up to $15,000 to those interested in computing and technology.

Those who wish to pursue a military engineering career might want to look into awards like the American Society of Naval Engineers Award, which grants up to $2,500 to prospective Navy engineers.

Applying for Mechanical Engineering Scholarships

Given the rigorous academics of engineering programs, most scholarships for mechanical engineers will require a GPA of 3.0 or higher as part of application criteria. Some scholarships will use GPA and class performance as the only metric, but others may require an exam or even an essay.
