Reviews for Georgia Institute of Technology, Main Campus
Georgia Tech is a very well-known engineering school and provides a very rigorous but valuable degree. The campus is located in the heart of Atlanta and there are always on-campus events going on. Sorority and fraternity life are big and football games are always fun.
The class sizes are fairly large and it is hard to develop a relationship with a professor. You rely on your Teaching Assistants (TA) to help you get through the class. Georgia Tech was ranked number one for having the most difficult workload, but all of their engineering degree programs are ranked in the top 10.
Campus is very safe but it can be scary walking alone at night and is generally condoned. The GT police do their best to keep campus safe but there are occasional robberies. There are always fraternity parties, weeknights and weekends. The school does not excessively party, though, as many people are very serious about their academics. You can always venture into Atlanta if campus is not exciting enough for your taste.
Georgia Tech is overall very nice, mainly because of its great community. People are nice and the city is lively. Size of the campus is large but still comfortable. Food, however, is not the best. Campus is pretty though.
Classes seem to be on the large side. I would prefer a class with less than twenty students. I'm not sure about teacher assistants doing most of the teaching at GT. The business majors at Tech seem to be well off and with a good workload. However, this is not the case for engineering majors. It seems justified since GT is known for its engineering programs.
There's always something to do since GT is in the middle of Atlanta, though it does make it feel unsafe at night, especially if you're alone. Clubs and organizations are welcoming and plentiful. It's nice to know that you're in control of how much you're willing to give in effort to a club.
The school overall was nice. The dormatory facilities were very upscale and protected with key or card entry. Students at the campus were very polite and welcoming. The fraternity/sorority need work. The sorority ladies could use a little bit of more expansion for such a large school. The cafeteria had great variety. I give the school a great rating.
I was not able to check out many classrooms, however the classrooms were neat and the classes did not look crammed with students, which I believe is good for learning enviorments due to focus concerns
The social enviornment of the school was relaxed. They have a decent amount of clubs and organizations. Campus safety was great considering the campus is open. The athletics program was nice as well. The school has a good variety of on campus activities as well as off campus activities because it is located in a city.
