Overall

Overall, the school is great. So far, my experience has been a lot better than the experiences that I had in high school. One of my favorite aspects of being at UNLV is the freedom. While there are general rules, for the most part, you're able to whatever you want. To prospective students, I would recommend being as informed as possible. If you have any questions, there is always someone at UNLV that you can ask. Whenever I have questions, no matter what, the person answering my question(s) is always polite, caring, and helpful.

Academics

I think the class sizes are excellent. Most class sizes are relatively small, which is great, because that enhances your learning experience. There are some lecture halls that are quite large, but otherwise, I've never been in a class that exceeded 20 students. The workload can be stressful at times, but it's never too much to handle. There are many class and major options for students.

College Life

UNLV offers tons of D-I sports and intramural sports. There is also Greek Life on campus. UNLV has its own personal police department, which is great for safety. There are also a number of clubs and organizations that people can join at any point in the semester. On the weekends, especially during the first few weeks of the semester, there are an endless amount of parties and events for students to go to on and off campus.

Overall

The school is very nice. I attended the University of Arizona for 2 years and found it to be more inviting for students to spend time at the school and interact with each other than the University of Nevada, Las Vegas. But the more time I spend time there, the more I like it.

Academics

The professors, classes and programs all seem very good. They are challenging but inspiring as to not just give students easy grades but instead inspire them to persevere and thrive in more challenging classes. Unfortunately, the math classes are largely taught by grad students who do not naturally speak English which makes the classes harder to understand and do well in.

College Life

Students come together in the student union but otherwise do not really have a centralized area outside to interact and thus do not seem encouraged to interact with each other whether to study or just for fun.

Overall

I greatly enjoy attending college at UNLV. The diversity is refreshing and the school's effort to make academic life easier for commuting students is very helpful. It is easy to get involved with so many clubs and groups.

Academics

The workload is average. Upper division professors and teachers know what they are talking about and they are helpful and approachable. Lower division understands the lives of students and are helpful.

College Life

There are a wide range of clubs and groups that would meet anyone's interests and needs. The majority of the students commute so I'm not too sure about weekend activities but there are a lot of scheduled events that seem very fun.

Overall

UNLV is a great school for those wishing to study in Southern Nevada. The university provides a great atmosphere for students from all walks of life. The vibrant city of Las Vegas affords UNLV's students with a cultured experience as they pursue their educational opportunities. One potential downside for those wishing to obtain a graduate degree from UNLV (or those with families) is the lack of available student housing beyond campus dorms.

Academics

Class sizes are average at UNLV & there are many challenging courses of study for those who desire such. The university has a faculty stacked with many renown professors in each of their respective fields.

College Life

The student life is quite possibly one of the greatest benefits to attending the University of Nevada, Las Vegas. Located just minutes away from the strip, the social atmosphere and student life at UNLV cannot be beat.

Overall

It was a decent school. It didn't have the exact major I wanted at the time, so I had to kind of make it up. I wanted to be an advertising art director. All they had was communications emphasis in advertising which is a very broad major. But, overall I liked going there.

Academics

I enjoyed my classes, but didn't always think they had the best professors. Some professors were not very skilled in the subject they were teaching. Some were. Class sizes weren't too big. The majors aren't that specialized unless you are going into Hotel Management.

College Life

There is definitely a big night life in Vegas. Around the school are many restaurants, clubs and recreation. I can't speak to campus safety because I did not live on campus and was rarely there at night. There is a lot of school pride for the basketball team but the other sports are weak.
