Reviews for Northwest Florida State College
Northwest Florida State is a good school to attend. It has an expert faculty and numerous student assistance programs. For prospective students, I would advize getting involved. Also, never loose your focus on your academics.
The classes are small in size. There are hundreds of different courses that cover a wide variety of disciplines. The professors are experts. They know the material and are very clear in their presentation of it. Also, they are always ready and willing to help those who are struggling. Furthermore, in general, the workload is moderate.
The social atmosphere is somewhat clickish. It seems that people stay within their groups. There are many clubs and organizations that allow students to meet and work together. The school is very safe. I never feel insecure when I am on campus. The school has a strong and successful atheletic program. I do not know of any weekend school functions.
When researching colleges When researching a college I must confess the first thing I consider is the location. Being a single parent with a limited income, I need to be able to drive the shortest distance necessary to attend college classes. The extreme price of gas has limited my options to the closest college campus. Northwest Florida State College has several campuses located throughout the Pan Handle, which makes it possible for students like me to attend. My second consideration is the cost. While I qualify for assistance and am able to get student loans, I want the best qualified, most affordable education I can receive. NWFSC meets both criteria. In comparison with other local colleges, NWFSC is ranked amongst them and is affordable. I am in my Freshman year at NWFSC. My professors have exceeded my expectations of what I believed a college professor to be. NWFSC professors' love for their subjects reflects in their classrooms. I feel comfortable approaching my professors to help me when I do not understand their lesson plan. My professors have all extended their time past class time, which is reassuring and comforting. My experience at NWFSC has truly been a blessing.
Classroom sizes are between 25 or more students. Seating in classrooms are comfortable. Each of my classes has had different workloads, but none of my classes assigned too much work. All the work required is necessary for students to understand the subject being taught.
The social atmosphere is really friendly and nice. Both students and professors are curtious and respectful of one another. I have not witnessed any rude or offensive behavior from students or professors. The Crestview campus at NWFSC is very pleasant. I have not witnessed any crime and hope to never withness any crimes. NWFSC posts all activities in the Main Building for all students to view prior to any events.
I thought it was a great place to help transition into a larger university. It offered a lot of different classes for a wide variety of study. Additionally classes were offered in satellite campuses which allowed for a lot of flexibility.
Classes were challenging but not overwhelming. I enjoyed all my professors and would take some of the courses again. The class sizes were relatively small, and it allowed for a lot of one on one time if you required it.
Since I took evening classes I didn't get to participate in much of the campus life, but I did attend basketball games when I could. The campus itself was located in a quiet safe area and there was no real concern for my safety.
