Overall

I've run four years of cross country and track and field here and have had great teammates and coaches. I also have enjoyed many of my classes and my professors are very accessible. There isn't much to do in Latrobe, though.

Academics

Overall it is a great school academically. Even though I'm a history major, I've especially enjoyed my other humanities classes, including philosophy, political science and theology. Rarely any large classes and professors were great.

College Life

There are a number of great clubs here. Athletics are good overall and with them bring more geographic diversity. Being from the city, it was a change of pace, but there is value in doing what you came to college for.

Overall

Saint Vincents College was a great experience to me in more ways than one. I Love how the admissions committee really goes above and beyond for their students from at least my high school, which was St. Benedicts. Some of the downfalls is the schools outlook on diversity. I wont go into details, but overall I made it through.

Academics

I majored in biology. This was not easy, I have to say my professors really do know what they are talking about. My classes were very intense, but very informational. The workload for my major is heavy.

College Life

Socially the campus is not about parties or hanging out. While I was here I was able to bring on alot of new projects that were new, such as dances, Mlk celebrations and more. We did alot of off campus activities as well, but that was mostly on weekends on our own time.

Overall

I am almost 50 years away as a graduate. Now more than ever, I realize that St. Vincent College was the foundation of who I am today. I live in California, but religiously return annually for a Benedictine fix.

Academics

It's been almost 50 years since I attended small classes there. I understand that the class size and academic atmosphere has not changed, and this is what is great about St. Vincent College. It was good almost 50 years ago to me and it will still be good for all the new Students for the next 200 years.

College Life

I am an alumnae who enjoys the current school NCAA Division III athletic programs. I am proud to say that I too, competed for Saint Vincent College. It's a great way to stay in touch with the past, attending Homecoming Football, looking up scores in my local newspapers and online SVC Web site, checking out the "Bearcats" sports results.

Overall

SVC changed my life. This small college in rural Latrobe, Pennsylvania provides a Liberal Arts education in a coed environment. The school has benefited from the leadership of the Board and the Benedictines --- together they have built a college loved by the students and alumni. The result, committed donors that provide ample funding for the necessary improvements that keep the institution fresh and focussed. The most recent improvement -- a new, state of the art Science Center.

Academics

SVC is dedicated to delivering an exceptional experience to the students. Small classes, regular upgrades to the quality of the faculty, technology improvements and improved teaching methods combine in a way that assures students that the school is focussed on providing a high value education.

College Life

I can not speak to several of these attributes. I lived off campus. Although I regularly return to SVC, I have no frame of reference to comment. As to safety, I can not imagine a safer environment than SVC. Athletics continue to improve. 2007 saw the return of football to SVC. Games are well attended by students and local alum. Basketball program has been exceptional for many years.

Overall

SVC is a great college academically! the faculty and staff are there to make sure you succeed. Everything else sucks. The food, dorms, surrounding area even the mall SUCKS. You definitely need a car to be there.

Academics

Academics is excellent. Perfect student to teacher ratio. Despite the fact that the Science department gets ALL the funding the academics is amazing. Workload is appropriate for a college. We do need a designated reading week to study for finals.

College Life

Sucks. sucks. sucks. school is in the middle of nowhere so threats are a minimum, but if we were in the city we would be in big trouble! clubs are ok. no weekend activities. no shuttles to off campus locations

Overall

Wonderful Benedictine atmosphere. Catholicity of the college is very apparent, but all are welcomed warmly. Visible presence of monks on campus. Strong core curriculum requirements include 9 hours theology, 6 hours philosophy. Great student body--mannerly & more mature than most. Beautifully landscaped and clean campus in the hills of SW Pennsylvania.

Academics

For a small liberal arts college, this school offers a nice variety of majors & courses. Impressive new science building with planetarium. Instructors are very available to students. Instructors hail from excellent colleges themselves. Nice mixture of lay persons and monks who teach the classes. Small classes, no big lecture halls.

College Life

Despite its small size there is plenty for students to do on campus. Lots of clubs & organizations. 80% of students live on campus all four years of undergraduate career. Plenty of athletics available.
