The people running this school don't really seem to care about you. I'd pass on it, if given the chance again. They just want your money and don't seem to care what happens to you afterwards. I'm disgusted with them.

What I now know, would have been like gold in my hands. Being a new adult student, I had find out costly mistakes as I went along. I believe everyone upon enrollment should have to sit in with a counselor and create an academic plan along with a back-up one. To be watched for progress toward intended goals, pulled in when veering off course. Each person if they don't know, have explained to them why this class and not that one to stay on course. It surely would help to know you are basically wasting classes, if you are/ and that later its going to hurt you one way or another.

Academics

I struggled with pre-requisite math. For me when I graduated in1984, this math I never had. I needed a remedial to the pre-requisite. Like a refresher, a bridge fro where I left off to where the expectation level is now.

Campus Facilities & Safety

Very nice spacious and open. Depending on the campus you are attending, the parking is horrible. You basically will stalk somebody for a parking space. I learned to just arrive very early to combat that problem. Security is ever present, thankfully I never had a problem that required their assistance, but I'm certain they would have handled it.

The classes are great and not too expensive. People are nice and willing to help you if you need it. There are a lot of student activities that the student government plans out that help the students have a good experience.

Academics

Most classes have very nice teachers that will explain the subject and make it so the students understand the subject. The professors are always available to answer questions either by email or in person and they are very helpful.

Campus Facilities & Safety

Overall there are no problems in the school with safety. There is always a computer for students to use if they need it. All of the clubs and organizations are great for students to get involved. Parking can sometimes be a haste but overall it's not bad.

I found all the teachers and staff ready to help me with any thing that I needed. They clearly stated the objectives of their courses and stayed with their sylabus. they taught from the books so when I studied at home, I knew exactly what I needed to study. Their tests were always on the book which they had taught. Without caring teachers from HCC, I would have dropped out. But thanks to them, I was graduated from USF with honors and a BA in education. I got a teaching position and returned to USF for my MA in education. I retired from SDHC in 2008 and returned to the same full time, then part time in which I am still teaching. Without the help and caring of my HCC professors, I would have been lost, forever! I have only good memories of my time at HCC. Thank you!

Academics

All basic classes. Professors Jack Waugh and Ralph Castellano helped me most. I took full loads and some over loads. Class sizes were 20 up, but a good size for learning. With the help of these two professors, I was able to make inspite of my personal doubts. With full/over size loads, the work was heavy, but rewarding when I received honor grades from all my coursed. This gave me the incentative to try harder to prove to myself that I could do this! I will always remember, with fond memories, these professors who help and encouraged me to keep going.

Campus Facilities & Safety

Everything was great! When I first started HCC, We were housed in the old airport building, using the hallways without walls as classrooms. This didn't stop the professors from teaching and holding students for there learning. Soon, the main Dale Mabry campus was opened up for classes which made the physical building nicer. I did not have labs. Parking was always ample. Safety was never an issue for me.

I believe that this school is an old school with old policies that have not been updated since the day it was opened. My son went to this school and had many problems with teachers not responding to his questions about grades, teachers giving him grades he did not deserve, and so called "advisers" telling him that his path in his college career was essentially over due to one letter grade of a C. The structure of the school advising system is terrible, they send you all of the place where you wait in line for hours just for no one to have a direct answer for you and for them to rush you out of the door and tell you they will get back to you, which they never do. Students are not allowed to speak directly with the Dean of Students either. My advice is to stay far far away from this institution!

I've never attended this college yet, but I plan to do so in the near future. From the research that I have done on Hillsborough College, it seems like a great school to attend and has great opportunities for all students who wish to attend. I also feel that this school will be a great tool for career success in the future for all students who graduate from this school.
