For an educational experience that integrates Ignation and Catholic spiritual tradition into its rigorous academics, you should check out the Jesuit School of Theology in Berkeley, California.
The school is one of the only institutions on the West Coast certified by the Congregation for Catholic Education to award credentials in the Pope’s name.
Students are part of a dynamic spiritual community that extends from the local campus to the global community. Every August and January, students go on retreats to reflect on their faith, education and how they can service the world at large.
College life at JST is fully immersed in spirituality. Every Tuesday, students and faculty gather as a community for evening mass and soup dinner, while several local parishes provide students with opportunity to volunteer in local outreach projects.
The academics offered at the school include several graduate degrees in concentrations like:
- Theological Studies
- Biblical Languages
All incoming Master of Divinity students are required to go on an Ignation pilgrimage during their first year.
To become part of this community, you must have earned a BA degree at an accredited institution and must demonstrate personal maturity and a deep faith commitment. Each program has its own admissions requirements.
Tuition varies depending on which program you pursue. JST offers financial aid to eligible students through various scholarships.
