Overall, my Vanderbilt experience was unparalled. I liked most about my time at Vandy was all the different ways you could be involved on campus. There was such a great variety in student life that I never felt limited to a niche. If you are a prospie, def check out Greek Row :).

Academics

Vanderbilt was really good about keeping class sizes small enough so the professors could have the opportunity to give each student attention. I think the only excpetion maybe to this rule were the sciences, but in every other department, you could get the personal attention you may need. The workload is massive, though, and there is definitely pressure on campus to succeed.

College Life

Vandy's long standing motto is: WORK HARD, PLAY HARD. As much as students are dedicated to their studies and to their extracurriculars, the social scene is still very much a big part of any Commodore's life. Whether you are Greek or just like to explore Nashville, if you're into science, chess, fasion, etc, you can have a wonderful time.

Overall

Vanderbilt is truly a special place. The academics are top notch with small class sizes, engaged students, and passionate professors. Vanderbilt is in the unique position, not unlike Stanford and Duke, of being the academic powerhouse in a powerhouse athletic conference. Add to that the city of Nashville which is an amazing city to explore once the campus starts feeling small senior year. With students from all over the country sharing a unique experience, one quickly finds they have friends aroudn the country.

Academics

Nashville is a great city to explore and there is always a lot going on socially for any student, but you've got to get your work done.....and there's a lot of work to do. Every class will keep you busy with plenty of reading, group work, and a rigorous testing schedule. Both teachers and students are fully engaged. If you are not equally engaged and committed to scholarly pursuits in addition to an active social life, you will find the school extremely difficult.

College Life

Great music scene, strong greek life, competitive sports, and a diverse student body, it's truly a great way to spend four years. A typical weekend will find you attending a sporting event, followed by a party at a fraternity or club, capped off with time hitting the bars conveniently located around campus.

Overall

I loved the atmosphere of the city and the campus. You get to experience all of the seasons and a variety of music that you would never hear anywhere else. Everyone there is so friendly that even new students feel right at home.

Academics

The academic rigor of Vanderbilt University is very well renowned. This is actually what drew me to the college in the first place, as I knew that I wanted to challenge myself in college. The medical program specifically interested me, and I will hopefully be able to get a degree in medicine from this school in the future. The academic choices available at the school allow students with all types of interest to find their niche. The workload is manageable, and the professors show an interest in the students unlike what you see at most large colleges.

College Life

The atmosphere at Vanderbilt is the biggest factor that drew me to the school from the moment I arrived on campus. Nashville is a music town, and accordingly, the college is a place where one can go to experience exceptional music performances throughout the year. Greek life is available to those who are interested, and the multitude of organizations there truly meet the needs of every student.
