Overall

Georgia College is an absolutely beautiful school, from the actual campus, to all the students that attend; I truly could not imagine my life anywhere else. When I was just a junior in high school, I visited this campus and immediately knew where I was going to be spending the "best years of my life", and so far it has been anything but a disappointment. My favorite part about this school is the students that attend it. I have been here for a little over six months, and have made friends who I know will one day be standing beside me on my wedding day. I walk to and from class giving and receiving smiles from complete strangers. College is a huge step in life, it's the first big step most kids make in their lives that really begins a life on their own, therefore I expected to be homesick, lonely, nervous, and scared when I first moved in, but this was not the case. This school had everything planned out for the freshman to feel as though they were welcome in their new home. The fraternities and sororities were throwing parties, the church groups were having cookouts, everyone was going out of their way to make sure we were comfortable in our new home. My tip for prospective students would be to take a visit here, I know you will fall in love with this beautiful and historic town just like I did. I cannot wait to see what the next few years here has in store for me!

Academics

One of the main reasons I chose this school, besides its pristine beauty, was the reputation for it's Education program. I came into school with a high desire to be a Middle School teacher and knowing that this school has one of the best education programs in the state made it seem even more perfect than I believed possible. I was pleasantly surprised by my small class sizes, if you have questions or problems, the teacher will make accommodations to fit your needs. The work load is extremely appropriate. If you have a good sense of time management, and spread out your work as needed then you should have plenty of free time to do whatever you desire, or in my case you could even get a job! The professors honestly care about their students here. I feel as though they work hard to make sure we understand the material, and almost all of them will do whatever it takes until you understand the curriculum.

College Life

The social atmosphere at Georgia College is what makes it unique. I personally did not join a sorority here, but my roomates did and they absolutely love everything about it, however I do not feel excluded at all for not being in one. The same goes with the fraternities, I know guys who aren't in them but still have a great time at their parties and are good friends with a lot of their members. Intramural sports are a huge deal here, which I think is awesome! During flag football season, everyone has practice and gets all intense about their team and it's all so much fun! That goes along with out athletics here at the school which as students we all love to support! During the weekends people are always at the gym playing dodgeball, at one of the local parks playing flag football, sometimes hanging in a hammock on front campus reading a good book, or just in their room with their friends. There is always something that you can be doing here. At night, people love to go downtown to the local restaurants and hang out with their friends, which I always feel safe doing. There are emergency stations every so often as well as Milledgeville and GCSU police everywhere you turn. I have never felt as though I was in danger here.

Overall

All the professors were very nice and friendly. The kids I met were out-going and seemed like genuine people. The library was more than up to date and the campus was easy to get around. Just a welcoming environment.

Academics

Well I have not officially taken classes at GCSU because I am a senior in High School but I am told that since I am in the Honor's Program that the class size should average 16 students per professor.

College Life

The social atmosphere is amazing. The people and professors are so friendly as when I toured the campus, everyone seemed to go out of their way to help me. I was told there were over 200 clubs and organizations which sounds amazing for an active, enriching college experience. The campus safety is fine, I would assume it would be safer to go to GCSU than most places due to the small town vibe which is very soothing. The athletics are Division II but they are still very competitive. GCSU is one of the top contenders in most sports in the division II category and the weekend activities I am just not sure of. I have only stayed weekdays.

Overall

Overall, I believe that this school is just another average college. One big exception to this comment is that the housing is much better than any I have seen on other college tours. As for the sports program, i think that it is better than most other colleges in Georgia, especially for sports such as cross country, which is what i am looking into, and soccer. One big con though, is this school's size. It is very school, and coming from a high school that has almost the same student population, it would be better if it was a little better. The college town is very small as well, and you would have to drive farther if you wanted to go to the mall or the movies. Although this college has a nice campus and beautiful, student-friendly buildings, it is too small and is not necessarily very geared towards the major that i am interested in which is music.

Academics

Well since i dont go to this school, i dont necessarily know much about the workload or classes, except from what ive heard. I do know that the classes here do not exceed 80 students, and most classes accomodate 30 or less students, so not many classes are in lecture halls. I dont believe that the workload is much different from any other college workload, so obvously, you will have to do a lot of studying, and there will be nights when you have to stay up late just to finish something up. As for the classes, there are a plethora of majors and minors that are offered, so whatever you plan to major in, this college most likely has it.

College Life

From what ive heard, this college has an average to decent social life. It has the clubs you would expect for a college of this size.Because the campus is so small, it is very safe. As for athletics, they have pretty good teams, except for the fact that they do not have a football team, which tends to be a huge downside for most people.

This is an amazingly beautiful campus. There is a sweet southern feel to it. All of the staff and students tat I met there were polite and very helpful. Safe, clean and organized. Love the music programs vailable.

Amazing..love the low teacher to student rate. The personal advisement is a big plus. The manditory math homework class is a hugh plus esp with those of us who are entering in withe cooky state math . The library is wel equipted and centrally located.

College Life

Plenty of Greek clubs and organizations. Some sports. A state of the art fitness center. Many intermural programs. Love the mentoring...soar program. everything within a comfortable walking distance. Outside concerts and programs on the lawn

I fell in love with this school the first time I visited it. I was extremely reluctant to go visit it, but I am so glad that I did. I love the small close knit feeling of it and I like the fact that my professors will know my name.

Academics

The class sizes are small which ensures that you are getting the best education possible. Advisors try to create a schedule with a class everyday and varied times so that you don't get stressed out with your work load. The programs are great as well. People in the preoccupational therapy program get great training and leave with already having completed an internship.

College Life

Because the campus is so small, is is very safe. There is 4 different police headquarters there along with the campus security. Something that the clubs do is write upcoming events on the sidewalk so that every student is informed.
