Overall

Overall, this is a great school! There is a ton going on here all the time. Sports, academics, groups and organizations, helpful teachers and advisers, great facilities, and the campus is beautiful. Student life is awesome, there is always an event of some sort going on. This school is wonderful for class time as well, the professors are very knowledgeable, and class time is strait to the point, most classes are 50 minutes to 1 1/2 hours; not long at all.

Academics

Some classes here are very small and some are very large. Ive found them to usually be one or the other and never right in the middle. I have loved all of my professors here so far, classes are hard but in the end you really do feel prepared to move forward. Class time is never wasted on pointless teacher or student stories, short class time makes for better productivity and learning. Central is a wonderful school workload might be heavy in some classes but it is manageable.

College Life

The atmosphere here is perfect, you are surrounded by a lot of very competitive and academically healthy individuals. The list of clubs is great you could join a club for pretty much anything. Safety here could probably improve a little but overall I feel safe to walk and bike to class. Clubs and organizations tend to have numerous things to do on campus every weekend, and if that doesn't float your boat there are a lot of businesses and entertainment areas around mt.pleasant and midland.

Overall

I love CMU. The whole atmosphere of the college is wonderful. The campus isn't to big, nor is it too small. The school spirit and the way it comes together is astounding. Also the people are amazing. In my hall, every door is open and making friends is extremely easy compared to stories from other schools. I truly love Central Michigan University, I would not have picked another school.

Academics

The classes are pretty good. There's work, but that's how college is. All of the professors I've had so far have been understanding, laid back, and willing to help out the students. I enjoy the smaller classroom sizes compared to the auditorium classes, only because I can learn better that way.

College Life

There is so much stuff going on all the time, I wish I could be involved in it all. There are so many opportunities to get out and do something that it blows my mind. Walking around the UC one time I stumbled into a Drag-Queen BINGO and it was quite an experience. I never would have heard of it if I wasn't walking around. For everything that has been going on this year, I feel completely safe. Not once have I been worried about my safety. The CMU athletic games are fun to go to and get involved in. Plus there is always something to do on the weekends.

Overall

It's a pretty great school. The academics are great and the people are very friendly. Most professors are decent and it's pretty easy to get a job on campus. It's beautiful too. I'm glad I chose to go here.

Academics

Class size is varied. Some classes are lecture style with over two hundred students. Some classes only have twenty. The labs have between fifteen and forty on average. The workload is hard, but you know, that's college.

College Life

Well I don't live on campus, but I do always feel safe there. There are a whole ton of clubs. Our athletic teams aren't great, I haven't been to a game in forever. Most of the people are very friendly.

Overall

The capus is very modern with lots of new buildings. It has the feel of a small university with the benefits of a large university. The students are all very welcoming and there is a place for everyone at this school.

Academics

I have only ever been in the honors program at CMU so that is all i can accurately report on. The honors program allows for small class sizes and wonderful professors. It is a close family that cares for one another and offers help where it is need.

College Life

There is always something going on at Central Michigan University. There are a bunch of clubs to fit anyone's intrests. Sports are also prominent on campus if that is your thing. You will never be bored at CMU.

Overall

The school is very "university" oriented. The whole town is CMU! Campus is beautiful and continually growing. It is truly an academicallly oriented university. It is a safe environment. It is not huge, so no one gets swallowed up, but it is large enough to know that you are attending a university. Faculty are personable and have high standards. I highly recommend it!

Academics

I was in a Master's program and there were about 25 of us in a class. Faculty were very academically prepared and very personally concerned about each student. They are available to assist the student in whatever way they can.

College Life

I wasn't too involved in the social life because I had another commitment and lived in another town. I was impressed with multiple religious organizations available to students. Public safety was excellent. It was truly a safe environment.

Overall

Very very expensive. One of the most expensive colleges in Michigan and freezing cold. I attended CMU for one year before realizing that I wanted to transfer to an more diverse school that I could afford. One downfall of CMU is that the CMU Promise ended in 2007, and so the price of tuition keeps rising. You're still getting what you paid for, but it is beginning to get more and more costly.

Academics

Classes were a very decent size from what I can remember. The professors always made themselves available to students, frequently holding office hours. The workload could have been more, I expected a tad bit more of a challenge in some of the courses, which can contribute to my choice to transfer schools.

College Life

Central is great for students who want the big-college-feel on a small campus. At Central you will feel very independent and confident, the campus was very easy to learn and very small so there no bus catching for classes-Phew! It was very very brutally cold on the winters. Bundle up.

Overall

I felt like i clicked with the camus enviroment and the layout. My parents attended Central Michigan 20 years ago and the many updates since that time to all parts of the campus were evident to our family. For instince, the updated library was a place I am excited to spend time in even though studying in quiet places is not usually something I do.

Academics

I haven't attended Central Michigan yet, however I currently attend a large high school of almost 6,000 students with three large combined high schools. Therefore, I believe Central will be just the right transition in size and teaching style for me.

College Life

From visiting Central Michigan University, I envision myself enjoying the social atmosphere. I'm also looking forward to joining some of the clubs and organizations that Central can offer me. I hope to have a good social/study balance in my lfie, and I think Central will be provide me with that.
