I am a return student and enrolled in RN program currently, I have completed my LPN program from this college too. I have learned and enjoyed my experience in this college. It is a small college and provide personalize attention to the students. never I had to wait for an instructor to reply for my email or get help fore more than few hours. all the instructors are helpful and provide prompt attention to the issues. The best quality of this college is that they LISTEN to what students have to say and make changes accordingly. I am very Happy that I made a decision to enroll in this college.

Academics

I had completed my LPN program from this college as I mention earlier and loved it, currently I am enrolled in RN program and the instructors know what they are talking about. all my instructors are interested in knowing that we learn from them and they enjoy teaching as evident by their behavior. class size is appropriate and during lab they split us to provide enough space so we can learn at the best level we can. Its a vigorous program but that's what I expected from it and that's the way I learn the best, we are tested in a way that we even learn from our tests.

Campus Facilities & Safety

very friendly atmosphere, friendly and helpful staff. computer labs are safe and accessible. there is enough parking all the time and also campus safety is there enough for all of us to know that they are present.

I like the campus it's small enough to not get lost in trying to find your classes, but yet has everything that a bigger campus would have. The student senate puts on a lot of cool fun events for all students. They try to get everybody involved and have a good time. I remember my first week of school me and a girl from the same town decided to do the scavenger hunt. We thought it would eh fun to try and get as many things on the list that we could. Turns out that we got the most out of everyone in the school and we won.

Academics

My on campus classes are really fun and I love being around my fellow students. Online is a little more of a challenge to manage but I try to make it work. Our professor is very understanding towards our class. She also will do anything she can to help if we have a problem. As for the work load it's not as much as i first expected when starting school.

Campus Facilities & Safety

The campus atmosphere is out going the student life/ senate is a blast they have fun doing what they do. The safety of the school either emotional and physically safe. The faculty really care for the students and will do anything they can to make sure a student stays in school and graduates.

I really enjoy attending Central Lakes College. The staff are all very friendly. If lost or confused there is always someone there to help you out and answer questions. I remember my first day of school, I ended up getting lost, thank goodness there were plenty of staff around to help me get around.

Academics

There is a variety of programs to choose from. They are very flexible with your schedule. They have a variety of classes also available online. So if you have a job or kids and do not have enough time to attend campus there are many classes you can take online that still help you fulfill your degree. The professors at the campus and online are all very helpful.

Campus Facilities & Safety

The atmosphere is great. I like the computer labs they have. They are very helpful. The parking seems to be very packed usually. A bigger parking lot would be nice. The campus has security guards that help keep the campus safe.

I really enjoy Central Lakes College here in Brainerd, Mn. The staff is very helpful. One thing about this college is that it is small like 25 students per class and that is what is nice. I am able to talk to the instructors on a personal level..

Academics

The classes are small like I said. I like that because you are able to discuss your assignments or grades with the instructor and connect on a personal level. The work load of the classes that you are attending are manageable. The instructors give you more than enough time to complete the assignment. The professors here on campus will help you in any way, even if you don't even have them as an instructor.

Campus Facilities & Safety

The location of the college is very convenient. There is more than enough parking for all the students that attend the college. The atmosphere is up. Most of the students take pride in coming to the college. The computer area is very helpful to help complete your assignments or just to surf the web.

Have not taken any classes at this time, but I am registered for the Summer of 2013. They school has been very helpful and have gone out of there way to help me in every way possible. The best part of my whole experience has been working with registrar as they have done so much to make registering for classes and the process of transfering credits from my other college institutions a great success. They have done an outstanding job and have made communicating so simple. I have been in touch with them in person and via internet and they have been so helpful, polite and respectful!!!

Academics

Offer all classes necessary to get my associated degree in nursing. Have not attended class yet but will be attending this summer of 2013. Looks as though and have read many reviews by many others that it is a great school and classes and programs are very outstanding. I am looking forward to completing my Nursing studies at Central Lakes in Brainerd. I would have like to have taken some of the nursing classes prior to attending the Nursing Program at Central Lakes in the Fall of 2014, but I was informed they would not transfer, so that was a bit of a set back, but I will deal with the situation and make the most of it when the time arises. At least many of my credits did transfer and I am able to take a few other classes in the mean time. I am quite impressed with all the on-line classes Central Lakes has to offer. I have never taken on-line classes before, but I will soon find out what it's like as most of the classes I need that are offered this Summer were mostly all on-line courses accept for chemistry lab.

Campus Facilities & Safety

The campus thus far has been very comfortable and very accessible and easy to get around. Will have a better idea once I attend classes this summer. I was in the computer lab once so that I could access the internet and because I was not a student and had no access, a kind student aide worker helped me by letting me access his account to get a form printed so that I was able finish my application process at Central Lakes. Very generous and indeed I was impressed. Have not been around much of the campus otherwise, but was clean and very comfortable as mentioned before. The bookstore was very helpful in finding the book I needed and was very polite to me while paying for my book and application fees. Very excited to attend Central Lakes College!!

CLC is a small college so accessing information on teachers, classes, financial aid, etc... is normally very time efficient and carefully explained. My most memorable experience at CLC was being asked to present a paper that I had written for my Composition 2 class about the effects of different learning tools in the classroom, at the faculty duty days. I appreciated that my Comp teacher not only took my research seriously, but that the faculty members were open to hearing from and exchanging ideas with a student on how to better assist the learning process fro other current students. That is the best example that I have on the character of the faculty body at CLC. The only caution I would give to new students coming from areas outside of Minnesota is that CLC is a Midwestern college and while the college does try to improve diversity and diversity programs, the student body is not as diverse as a college in a bigger city would be.

Academics

Central Lakes College is a small school which is something that I've enjoyed about it; I know most of the professors by name and the smaller classrooms make for a more personalized education. Some of my best experiences at CLC have been in the classroom. I've taken three semesters of classroom classes and am now doing all online classes, but in the entire time at CLC I've only been in one class where I felt like the teacher was not doing a good job. All of my other teachers or professors have been well educated and taught classes that were informative and interesting. Every class that I've thought would better me as an individual and help me obtain my degree were available at CLC and every class has left me with valuable information, resources, and memories.

Campus Facilities & Safety

The campus is well lit and there is a decent cafeteria, theater, library, and common/study areas. The thing that I've liked most about CLC is that with it being a small school, and me being from this small town, I feel very comfortable and safe on campus. The regular security guards are friendly and helpful and I've never had a bad experience on campus. Parking can be a bit of an issue as areas for parking are large and often fair away from the door, however, as I do mostly online classes, this is not something that has discouraged me about the campus. When I have needed to use online facilities such as the computer labs or counseling services, there has always been adequate room available and help provided.

This will be my first semester back at school in a very long time. I have been nervous about returning to school at over 40 years old, however the faculty at CLC have been very helpful with the whole process of transitioning back to school. I am very excited to get started and the opportunities that lay ahead.

Academics

I will be completing my AA and transfer to The College of St Scholastica in pursuit of my a BA in Organizational Behavior. The convenience of St. Scholastica on the CLC campus will enable me to get the education I desire without having to move or take all online classes.

Campus Facilities & Safety

The CLC campus is located in the city of Brainerd MN with a population of approximately 14,000 people. It is surrounded by trees and nature. There is lots of parking and new traffic circles that will make entering and leaving school much easier. I feel very safe and comfortable with the school and it facilities.

Central Lakes college has a wide variety of couses available, and some wonderful teachers who extend their knowledge as much as possible. There are many student life activities including sports, plays, and other events that student can find entertaining and insightful. My only critizism is all of the student that are working in various offices of the campus who really do not know how to answer questions about their department.

Academics

The nursing classes that I am in are very interesting and many of the teachers are knowledgeable in their area of study. The clinical opportunities are exciting and the students, including myself, have learned a lot from them.

Campus Facilities & Safety

Besides the rampant road construction on College Road outside of the main building, CLC is a mostly safe and peaceful environment near the edge of Brainerd. The computer labs are useful and quiet, parking could be larger. There are always college guards on and not much happens on campus.

The best thing about CLC is that they offer many different courses across many different fields of study for an affordable price. One of the first things you will notice is that most of the students attending are serious about pursuing whichever career path they have chosen. If you are looking for the traditional college/university experience, than you should look somewhere else, because the students are from all different walks of life and many of them are older than your average college student. If you want to get involved there are lots of different clubs, activities, and sports to satisfy the outgoing individuals. My advice to everyone is to join Student Senate, because although it may not be your thing, it is where everything fun at CLC begins and ends. Overall a great school with a lot to offer to both students who are hoping to obtain their Associate's degree and to those who are hoping to transfer to a 4 year institution to complete their Bachelor's degree.

Academics

The classes at CLC seem to be relevant to your individual field of study, they also seem to be current with today's bigger universities. When it is possible, most of the professors are willing to be flexible with your schedule. The professors are unusually fun and not usually to busy to talk or answer your questions after lectures. Most of the classes are small when compared to today's universities and larger colleges.

Campus Facilities & Safety

The main facility in Brainerd is quite nice with a fairly large piece of property full of trees and large expanses of lawn. Their is ample space for parking in all four lots. The exterior and interior seems to have been recently renovated. The gym and food court seem to be on the small side of things, which is unfortunate. Their is a student living center(coffee, foosball, pool tables, and xbox 360's), weight room, two or three computer labs, theatre, and a large library are among some of things that are available to students. The campus feels quite safe with several security guards on duty throughout the college. The college atmosphere at CLC sometimes leaves something to be desired, partly due to the fact that many of the students commute and do not live on campus housing. But on the flip side, their are many different activities throughout the year: Volleyball(sand and court), basketball, softball, gaming events(Halo, Madden NFL tournaments), several different dances(Halloween, Valentines, and cultural), Free bowling events(most popular), Twins and Wild games, ski trips, paintball events, and many other events that are available to all of the students. CLC is pretty sweet, enough said!

This is actually my second time attending this college. My first was for the Dental Assisting Program which I graduated from back in 2003. This is a fantastic college with knowledgable instructors, business staff and all around awesome people to work with. This was the reason I decided to enroll in Central Lakes College - Brainerd, when I decided to advance myself in my career. This college is very well known for helping students any way they can, there are many programs available for, tutoring/extra help, career placement, work program, housing, and online courses. What I liked the most about Central Lakes was their online courses available for a varity of different programs/majors. I have been able to complete all of my summer classes online. The instructor for these courses was very informative and helpful if I had any questions/concerns about the work, test or projects. Overall this is a college that I would recommend my children attend that is how smoothly this college makes things go for each student. LOVE THIS COLLEGE!

Academics

I have of recent only done online courses, so my knowledge of my classmates is limited to internet only! However all classmates enrolled in my courses have been very helpful if any questions came about! The professor was very knowledgable and professional in all her written statements/emails or phone conversations (I have never met this instructor in person) but I feel like she is where she belongs, my courses were computer courses and she (I feel) knows everything there is to know about Microsoft! Workload was reasonable. This was summer courses so we had to squeeze a 16wk course into an 8wk course so given that it was very managable.

Campus Facilities & Safety

It has been a long time since I have been to the campus. Due to living 40 minutes away from the campus and having 3 young children it has been easier for me to do everything over the internet and/or a phone conversation. Last time I was there the parking was very easy. The campus was neat and clean and organized everywhere I went. The computer commons that I walked by was quite, peaceful and clean.
