Students looking for an education at a vocational-technical high school should look no further than Bergen County Technical Schools District. Founded in 1951, the district offers programs that meld college preparation classes with career focused programs.
There are three schools in the district: the Bergen County Academics, which offers professional, technical and academic courses; the Bergen County Technical High School, Paramus Campus, which is a technical and vocational training facility for residence of Bergen County; and the Bergen County Technical High School, Teterboro Campus, which is a full-time public high school with a technology infused environment and project driven academics.
Student life at the Bergen County Technical Schools is similar to typical high schools; there are athletic teams, clubs and a student government in which students can take part.
The admissions process is unique for this district as prospective students must apply to a specific school and program, and the procedures vary depending upon school and program. Late applications are not considered, so students should be mindful of deadlines.
Unlike most public high schools, the selection process for BCTSD is selective and students are required to not only take Math and English tests, but also to undergo an interview with a panel of teachers.
Tuition is free for Bergen County residents as it is paid for by the school district, the state of New Jersey and public and private grants.
