Overall

After transferring into Western Kentucky University with an Associate's Degree from a technical college, I found the faculty at Western much more friendly and helpful. Admission was easily accomplished with help from the staff, and the transition was most definitely a smooth one. The financial aid office was definitely much more friendly and "student friendly" than the prior school I attended. When a problem arose, the staff was quick to correct the problem, often within just an hour or so.

Academics

Classes are both large and small, depending on the field, and whether they are specialized or general education classes. The professors are friendly, approachable, and most importantly, well qualified. I am carrying a full case load, and the entire staff at this college is always willing to help me accomplish my goals. Their psychology department is wonderful!

College Life

A casual, safe, secure and enjoyable campus. Well taken care of, clean and easy to navigate. There are plenty of activities, organizations and clubs, for students of any type. As a non-traditional student, they have a wonderful department to help me return to college and achieve my goals. This has been more helpful than anything, and I was informed of the organization immediately upon inquiring about enrollment. It definitely helped take the fear out of the return to college life.

Overall

Overall WKU is not a college I would recommend going to. They keep going up in price of attendence every semester and its not worth it. They discriminated against me after I filed an appleal to go back and my son was very sick at the time and needed me. They truely suck as a University. No one working there knows what they're talking about and so you can be lead astray very easily. GO SOMEWHERE ELSE NOT WKU!!!!!!! YOU CAN FIND A BETTER UNIVERSITY FOR THE PRICE AND THEY ACTUALLY CARE ABOUT THEIR STUDENTS SUCCEEDING!!!!!

Academics

The classrooms are croweded and people don't go to learn they just run their mouths and professors let em. The work amount they put on you is ridiculous and some professors go overboard with tests. They make you feel like you are taking the GRE. WKU SUCKS AND IS THE WORST UNIVERSITY!!!!!!!

College Life

SUCKS!!!!! People are so snotty at WKU. They think if your not rich then you don't belong. You can find much better colleges that don't judge you by how much money you have or how you look. WKU is overrated. There have been rapes and murders on campus I don't know how many times. It's not safe. DON'T GO TO WKU!!!!!!

Overall

I like that the University is a big University, with lots of diversity, yet has the homey feeling that every college student misses about home at some point during their college career. The town and people are very friendly and easy to get around.

Academics

The class size and workload definitely varies depending on what the class is. However, professors do not overload you with more than you can handle. Class sizes get smaller as you work closer to your major.

College Life

Campus safety is very high on my list and that's why I like WKU so much. The dorms have 24/7 lobbyists allowing only residents to get in unless resident's guests come and use a photo ID to assure knowing who is in the building at all times. Athletic events are very fun and everybody gets together to cheer on their team and have a good time. There are many clubs and organizations to choose from; there is something for everybody and I think that is a huge part of the college experience.

I am a prospective student, so I have not had any memorable experiences on this school's campus and can not share any tips with prospective students. I hope to attend this school in the fall and then share my experiences with prospective students.

Academics

I am a prospective student, so I have not attended any classes or programs at this school. Therefore I do not know any professors personally, how much of a workload there is or the class size. I would be willing to do this if I was a current student.

College Life

I am a prospective student, so I have not participated in any clubs or organizations. I have been to several athletic events on campus. I used to have season tickets for Men's Basketball. I have a family friend in campus security, so I feel relatively safe on campus. I like the overall feel of WKU because it feels like home.

Though most people don't choose WKU as their dream school, most students are still satisfied with their choice to attend. The University may have its problems with little things around campus (like parking), but as far as universities go, students know that overall they have it pretty good. When asked whether they would do it all over again, many say that they would still choose Western. WKU really becomes home to many students over the course of their time spent in Bowling Green, and there are tons of opportunities to do anything they choose. The atmosphere—featuring lots of experiences to get involved with infused with a sense of belonging—is really what makes Western unique.
