Overall

Overall, I think CUNY La Guardia Community College is a great culturally diverse atmosphere, with a variety of courses, and different certificate programs offered there. What I enjoy most about LaGuardia is the Hallways and walls are covered in beautiful abstract art, so if your having one of those days, its easily washed away by the wonderful display of Alumni Talent that Wash the Wall's of every floor.

Academics

My Certificate Program is Clinical Alcohol and Substance Abuse Counseling (CASAC), which is a field unfortunately is needed across the USA.The War on Drugs and Abuse has risen since, President Regan was in office , and his Wife Nancy was on a Crusade against the "CRACK" epidemic, "JUST SAY NO" Now CASAC's are needed in middle schools, work places, and Universities. Our studies stem from Pharmacology, to Family counseling , referrals, and Group Counseling. The work load is intense and rewarding in the sense that I one day would like to make a difference in the area of counseling and Hope for the Drug addict who may not have Hope, and My Professors Give us a Well rounded education on the Profession, We've had the Manager of Samaratan Village Tommy Lambarca, teach Ethics and Relapse Prevention, Natasha Egan Teach us in family counseling and dynamics of Motivational Interviewing. My Cl;ass size is 25 student, which 15 of us will be completing part B and receiving our CASAC T.

Campus Facilities & Safety

The Campus is Long Island City and like any other Community College, its street parking and they do have a parking lot for $4, during the week, and for the week-end its a lil more and the rest is muni-parking . Its a well worth sacrifice, and compromise for your education. As soon as you step into the building the cafe has a computer lab, and you can find them through-out each bldg. The schools has wonderful Employment Help Organiztions , and they list jobs through-out 2nd floor. The Veterans Program is great , also .

Overall

The reason I am interested in this vocational school, is for I have heard through the years it has a no 1 rating in technical training. The major I hope to be taking will be Radiolgy Tech to be certified. I believe that LGA CC is accredited to LIJ and No Shore Hospitals and other Hospitals that I was looking to work at. At the age of 52, to start all over again I would prefer to go to a school with high standings in the 5 boroughs and throught the Greater New York area, than to go to a sleazy no accredited school that does not help you with the career and support you are looking for to learn a trade.

Academics

I have not entered that phase just yet. With huge hopes I can only anticipate the excitement of what I will be competing with on an overall basis.

Campus Facilities & Safety

I believe this school is in a safe public area, with various transportation and accessablity to feel comfortable and at ease to attend.
