About SCC

A tribal college, Stone Child serves the needs of the Native American community in the Box Elder area. The school was established relatively recently in 1984, but strives for a high level of excellence in academics and vocational training.

Stone Child College offers more than 25 programs of study. One-year certificates and two-year associate’s degree programs are available in a variety of subjects. Most programs are professionally oriented, focusing on fields like Industrial Technology, Education and Information Systems.

In addition to these traditional programs, Stone Child features some unique fields of study. These include Native American Studies, Water Quality and Natural Resources.

As a community college, Stone Child follows an open-door admissions policy. Those without a high school diploma or GED are welcome to apply, but must take the Ability to Benefit test to ensure that higher education will be of value to them.

Student life at Stone Child College is as professionally oriented as its academics. A popular campus organization is the American Indian Business Leaders Club, which helps to develop students’ management skills and networking.

Several financial aid opportunities are available at SCC, including Pell Grants, FSEOG and tribal scholarships. The college also offers several institutional and endowed scholarships for qualifying applicants.
