The University of Tennessee’s Health Sciences Center (UTHSC) in Memphis, Tennessee, offers comprehensive medical and healthcare training, as well as programs in medical research.
Memphis is the main and largest campus in the UTHSC system. Educational programs encompass a wide range of programs, offered through different schools. These include:
- Allied Health
Through these schools, students may obtain an undergraduate or graduate degree in such medical and healthcare careers as:
- Audiology and Speech Pathology
- Dental Hygiene
- Family Medicine
- Occupational Therapy
- Orthopedic Surgery
- Pediatric Dentistry and Community Oral Health
UTHSC also has a comprehensive graduate research division. Students in this division prepare for careers in academic and medical settings. Students in the research division undertake research in such areas as:
- Biomedical Engineering and Imaging
- Speech and Hearing Science
Admissions requirements vary, depending on the program of study to which one is applying. Requirements for the medical school include MCAT scores, three professional recommendation letters, proof of a bachelor’s degree and prerequisite courses in the sciences and humanities.
UTHSC students receive most of their financial aid through outside scholarships. In addition, students may apply for federal grants, loans and work-study. To apply for financial aid, applicants must submit a FAFSA.
