Overall

It is my first year here and I love it. I was really homesick at first, but after a couple months I found my niche. My professors have been awesome and I feel really welcome here. Overall, there is a somebody for everybody.

Academics

Most of the intro classes are large, like 100-200 people, but other classes could have 20-40 people. Most of the intro classes also have a lab, which are usually around 20 people. Workload depends on how many classes you take.

College Life

Trinity Campus is not that bad! If anything, the isolation from the other campuses makes you bond more with your dormmates. If you are into the nightlife, you can find it if you search hard enough. Many clubs as well.

Overall

UVM is a place where there are a ton of relatively wealthy students who seem to have the main goal of partying with academics second. However it is possible to get a decent education here. What you put into it you get out of it.

Academics

In the Education Department the professors are really focused on you learning something. As a result almost every Education class isn't super challenging and you are almost guaranteed an A in it if you do all of the work and show up to class. Class sizes are respectable and the general workload isn't too bad. If you are in an Education program it is a lot of busy work which requires some time. It isn't too bad though.

College Life

There are a ton of social clubs on Campus. With the overall size it might take longer to find a place you feel comfortable but once you do it is nice. UVM is a pretty safe place to be walking around late at night and it is easy to catch the bus for on and off campus rides. The Athletics at UVM really depend upon the sport. We have a good Basketball and Skiing team but really not that great as far as hockey goes. Should you decide that you want to play a sport there are tons of intramural ones to join which have a less of a stress level than the collegiate ones. Weekend activities are numerous. During the winter there are multiple buses to the local ski mountains. Biking, hiking and concerts are big in the average UVM'ers life. Burlington is a great city and it isn't hard to find something going on that you can do.

Overall

Wonderful campus and very involved student life. The atmosphere is young and enthusiastic, green, energetic & positive. It's an atmosphere which makes you believe everyone can and does make a difference in this world. The extracurricular student life is vibrant with a great music scene, extraordinary arts, and an abundance of outdoor activities. While mainstream sports are not prominent, others such as ice hockey and skiing are world class, and others such as sailing (consistent top 20 collegiate sailing/racing program as rated by US Sailing) and basketball are some of the top programs in the country. The academic experience was excellent. Like any program, you get out what you put into it. But most of the profs I ended up with were extremely competent, available, and helpful. Particularly in the Kalkin Business School, where I spent much of my time.

Overall

UVM is a great school and Burlington is a great city, albeit very chilly. I found the perfect combination of "College Life" and a cool local scene. Great food, music and people added to a solid academic experience. Obviously the serious skiing and epic parties didn't hurt either.

Academics

I double majored in English LIterature and Spanish Language. I minored in Film Theory and studied abroad in Spain during my Sophomore year. I was part of the John Dewey Honors Program and graduated Phi Beta Kappa. UVM may be know for it's parties, but the academics are top notch! The JDH program was spectacular and I found a great academic community among the students and staff. My professors enthusiasm and the university resources were great, and I enjoyed the small classes and intimate experience of the honors program.

College Life

Great atmosphere, nightlife, live music and food only enhanced my time at UVM. Lot's of house parties and concerts with tons of outdoor activities all year long. Basketball and Hockey are strong, but not a huge athletics focused student body. Also, the greek scene is almost non-existant.

Overall

The University of Vermont provides quality education with well outfitted facilitates and dedicated staff. Its location in Burlington is wonderful and is a perfect college town with plenty to do during the day and night.

Academics

The classes and professors provide a quality education and the class sizes are manageable. Many of the professors are easy to approach and the workload is manageable. I know many of the students at UVM have enjoyed all of their professors and find that they are fair and qualified.

College Life

There is always lots to do with many clubs, athletics, outdoor activities, greek life, and great programs for students. Burlington has been voted one of the best college town in the country and is close to Canada along with ski country.
