Overall

When it comes to doing my research for colleges, I try to make sure I've covered all of my bases. I have learned that it's very important to be aware of evertyhing a college has to offer and how a particular college can work out long term. What I love most about this college is that it's close to home, it's very much affordable, and, most importantly it will allow me to reach my goals, both long-term and short-term. Due to my just starting to attend BCC, I don't have a favorite professor as of yet, but science departments are definitely my favorites. getting around campus is easy and quite enjoyable; there are so many walkways that can be traveled on the way to class, there are trees everywhere, flowers here and there, and a beautiful fountain right next to the main building. Since I'm pretty new I tend to rely on my campus map, but since I love nature and being surrounded by it, making the walk to class is always a fun experiencing, making me peacful and relaxed in time for class. One of my favorite features of the college is the fitness room, which was just recently redone. I'm not much of a gym person, but the fitness center allows me the chance to be active in a clean, intimate, and un-crowded area. What I love most about Bristol Community College, though, is the fact that it is so community-based; I like being able to go to school to get an education and also be exposed to different events, causes, and cultures. This keeps me grounded as well as involved in my local community. Being new, both to the school as well as the area/state, I like that there are always opportunities being offered and things to do, both on and off campus. I enjoy feeling involved and being a part of the Bristol Community College family and can't wait for the Summer session to get started!

Academics

There are so many programs, both degree- and certificate-based, that Bristol Community College has to offer. I am currently involved in the General Studies Program with a Health Sciences Concentration. Like any other campus, there are so many types of different professors, covering a wide range of personalities and work ethic. And to be honest, that is one of the aspects I really enjoy about the college -- the diversity and variety created by the vast group of individuals that make up our college community. Classes can be taken at three different campus locations as well as online, giving students a nice variety of class offerings to choose from, making it possible to a class at one location or online if it can't be taken at another. This is really important for staying on track and reaching goals. The workload can sometimes vary, depedning on the course and the professor's style of teaching. And being involved in a program that is health science-based, there's a lot of chemistry and biology, which can be tough at times, but I always accept the challenge.

Campus Facilities & Safety

Students with backpacks and folders traveling the walkways, sitting on benches here and there, relaxing by the fountain between classes--this is what you see around campus. The air is charged with the energy of students on a mission, students who come here each day with the idea of conquering a goal and working toward something greater than themselves. That is what I love about going to campus. There is such a wide range of groups and organizations that you can join that are community, as well as school, oriented. As of right now I have not joined any groups but am very interested in becoming a member of one that is related to my field of interest and have made this a goal. One of the greatest things about BCC is the fact that there are no parking permits that must be purchased, saving students time and money. There's always parking and the walk from the lot to campus is never too far. Campus security can be seen strolling around, keeping our campus safe.
