I love Ohio State and think it is an extraordinary institution. The facilities are great, the food is really good, and the education is outstanding. I like the athletics the most and also the healthy food options. It's a great place to go to school!

Academics

I am currently enrolled as a business student so my classes are mostly business focused. The classes are interesting and the professors are very good most of the time. The workload is not bad at all, but time management is a must. Class size is also not too overwhelming for a large school. The general classes such as economics are huge, but most of my other classes have under 50 students.

College Life

The atmosphere at Ohio State is always energized. From seeing a thousand people on the oval in the mornings, to going to a basketball game, this school is a very fun place to be. The clubs I joined are very helpful with my career, but also further my interests. The weekends here are a blast too!

I love The Ohio State University and I think the atmosphere is great overall. The class sizes may be large so do not procrastinate on work and do not be afraid to ask your professors for help in a class. There are so many opportunities to get involved and meet new people so join clubs and attend different events!

Academics

Some classes have lectures with a large number of students, which make it harder to keep up with the material and make it easier to fall behind. Take advantage of the online study guides and lecture notes from friends to help understand the material better.

College Life

There are a ton of clubs and organizations on campus that students can join to meet new people and gain new experiences. Joining intramural teams or just playing for fun allows students to stay active and provides challenges for them. The university provides campus security and a variety of other things to keep the campus safe for all the students.

I absolutely love my school. The atmosphere of a large university was what enticed me to come here in the first place and it hasn't let me down yet. There is always something going on to get involved with and nothing beats the traditions.

Academics

Class size is dependent on what the subject is but no matter if I am in a large lecture hall or a small room with only 20 students, I still am able to learn the material that is needed to succeed. There is a lot of work that is involved but this is college and you have to expect that in order to get a well rounded education, you must put in a little effort.

College Life

Ohio State athletics are something that the entire university can cheer about. There is nothing like going to the Horseshoe on a saturday in the fall to cheer your boys on, and if we just happen to beat that team up north, well them that makes the day even better! The Ohio State/Michigan rivalry is one of my favorite aspects of the school's tradition because it joins every single person on campus together for one cause, that being to hate on those nasty Wolverines.

Overall

Ohio State has a beautiful campus with many excellent facilities. My academic experience has been excellent, but I am a graduate student so I do not know a lot about the quality of undergraduate academics. Columbus is a nice, but not excellent place to live. The most challenging thing about my experience at Ohio State has been dealing with logistical issues like financial aid, class planning, etc. It is just a very big school and navigating the necessary channels to get things taken care of can be complicated. However, the experience of Big 10 football, particularly being a buckeye, has more than made up for it.

Academics

I have had many wonderful classes and professors. The workload seems reasonable, not excessive or minimal. Some professors have been less available than others. I went to a small university for my undergraduate degree, so working with professors at a Research 1 institution has been very different from that experience. It offers some new opportunities but also some challenges. I have learned a lot but there have also been some occasions when I wished that my advisor in particular was more available and involved in my GA responsibilities and expectations.

College Life

The football games are amazing and there seem to be many social opportunities. However, as a graduate student I have not had the time or desire to get involved in a wide range of extra-curricular activities. I have enjoyed group fitness classes and the general on campus atmosphere is great.

The school is amazing - Because of its size, there is ALWAYS something to do. There is literally a club for everyone. My personal favorites include FYE, and the barbecue club. It's a great way to meet people and make friends!

Academics

The class sizes for lectures are normally quite large, but that is t be expected at most colleges. The recitations, however are much smaller! Take advantage of your professors office hours, they are required to be there, so use it as a time to get to know them and ask them any questions that you might have!

College Life

The campus life at OSU is hard to beat. Everyone knows about the insane amount of spirit that the students have for their school, and it's not without reason! The atmosphere just oozes with energy and excitement which fuels and motivates me to stay active and excited about my college life.

Since I was little my parents encouraged the "buckeye lifestyle". Every Saturday from September until November I was dressed in my Buckeye cheerleading outfit ready to cheer on my team. I never quite understood why we did this until now. Everyone has words that describe themselves; sibling, daughter or son, friend, student, Christian, Muslim, Buddhist, etc, but in the top 5 words I use to describe myself, there is no doubt in my mind that "BUCKEYE" would be one of them. It's a term that has taught me immeasurable amounts. During my freshman year in Columbus, I learned how to work hard, and how important school is, that if I want to make a life for myself I have to step up and not expect anyone else to do it for me. I also learned that even though I attend a school of 50,000+ people I have a community, and friends, all a part of Buckeye Nation, that will stand behind me. A tip that I tell incoming students is not to miss out on anything. Don't miss out on the amazing, intelligent professors there to teach you. Don't miss out on a single football game where you root your heart out, and don't miss the numerous opportunities to get involved with something you are passionate about. It is so easy to help the community we live in and experience truly being a buckeye in every way possible.

Academics

As a biology major and spanish minor I get to experience two sides to my college education. I have science classes that I am one out of 300 students and the lecturer does not even know my name. Because of this I have learned to stand up for myself, it has taught me that no one is going to stand right next to me and walk me through every difficult challenge in my life and sometimes the outcome is totally on my shoulders. On the other side of things, I have spanish and international studies classes that I am one of ten students in the class. I get very valued one-on-one attention from some of the most educated and successful professors in the country. I had a professor winter quarter, who taught me a lot, not just about the rise and fall of the Soviet Union, but about success and pursuing what makes you happy. She said "I knew I was not naturally talented at languages, and history but I wanted to travel in the eastern bloc countries and learn their life, so I buckled down and got through a miserable, dificult undergrad so I could live the life I wanted in the long run". The classes I take are grueling, with 10+ hours a week spent in a laboratory by myself but what Professor Suchland taught me is with a passion for a lifestyle and career field you can accomplish anything.

College Life

In Columbus, it feels like New York City. There is no end to the things to do there. I am a huge part of Buckeyethon, which is an on campus organization that hosts a 12 hours dance-a-thon every year to raise money for pediatric cancer. This organization is very close to my heart because I want to be a pediatric surgeon. The kids and families I get to meet, spend time with, and raise money for are the most inspirational people in my life. I love that everyone on campus looks forward to February because that is when Buckeyethon takes place! The safety on our campus is fantastic, I have been walking home after dark from late midterm tests and been stopped by campus police and given rides home, there are always other students and professors around if anything should happen. You are never alone at a school this size and Ohio State makes it a very comfortable place to be. I have never felt scared or in danger at any time, I always feel like I am just at home. Being a part of Buckeye Nation is the most exciting thing. Every game day we back the shoe with 105,000 people all wearing scarlet and grey. The coolest part, is that for 4 hours on Saturday afternoon, not a single person in Ohio blinks, or changes the channel. People ask me what my favorite part about Ohio State is and my answer is always the same, the spirit. My favorite parts are the crazy fans, that bleed scarlet and grey and would die for a Buckeye win just like me! I get to be surrounded by thousends of other people that love the BUCKEYES just as much as I do. Not many students are as lucky as I am to have found a second home that they never want to leave.

I think that The Ohio State University is the best in-state University in Ohio. Overall, The Ohio State University is a great college that offers so much potential and careers to so many bright students. Since I have been at The Ohio State University, I have enjoyed my professors thus, and how they communicate with the students. I also enjoy the dining services that is being offered to students as well.

Academics

At the Ohio State University, I have had classes in which you really have to work hard for your academic purposes and records. It could get overwhelming at times, but the professors at The Ohio State University help students balance their time and help students maintain their studies within their work. They offer a lot of tutoring programs for classes as well as online tutoring. I find it very helpful for students.

College Life

At the Ohio State University, the students are very kind and respectful. From experience, I have made a lot of friends on campus that I study with, and form study groups. They also offer a lot of organizations and clubs to students outside of school for example, sororities and fraternities, and a lot of different organizations and groups within careers at The Ohio State University. They also offer safety services for students called the Escort Services. We could call anytime from 8pm to 2am to get rides to our destination for safety purposes. I also have a lot of friends that are involved in athletics such as tennis, softball, band, baseball, basketball, and most of all football, which is a very important and memorable sport for students that are involved in it. On weekends, there are a lot of sorority and fraternity parties that are full of fun and enjoyable memories. Overall, The Ohio State University is the best in-state diverse college that will take students far in their careers.

Ohio State is a amazing University. My most memorable experience has been my service trip through Buck-I-Serv to Greensboro, North Carolina. We worked for Habitat for Humanity rebuilding a roof for a needy family.

Academics

The workload is very challenging which is a good thing for students as it keeps them busy and forces them to keep improving themselves. The large class sizes encourage students to go the extra mile in order to stand out.

College Life

The campus life is very lively. There is always some student organization having activities on campus trying to get the student body involved. The athletics give the students a common team to bond around.

The Ohio State University is a school filled with unlimited opportunity. There is a great variety of majors, minors, and extra courses you can take. From the moment you step onto campus the school makes an effort towards making the school feel smaller and more welcome. There are plenty of student groups that you can get involved in. There are unlimited opportunities to expand your social life in the dorms, student organizations, and honors and scholars.

Academics

As a part of the honors program I am a little disappointed. I have not been as challenged as I would have liked. Other than that, the classes are engaging. Most of the classes that I have taken have had small class sizes. The workload varies extremely by the class. Professors are usually very friendly and approachable. I have been a little disappointed by the T.A. however. I think they are poorly chosen as they are usually difficult to understand and care less about the student.

College Life

There are so many opportunities to get involved on campus it can be quite overwhelming. However if you enter into campus life with an open mind there are many places where you can find you will belong. From the Ukulele Club to the Pistol Club, there really is an unlimited amount of choices. Obviously the athletics at Ohio State are incredible and if you are interested in watching and going to the games you will have a great time. Campus itself is a relatively safe however as soon as you go off campus it is much less safe. On the weekends there is plenty to do and you will find that everyone is having a good time.

I love a lot of things about this school, but I'd have to say its academic reputation, traditions, school spirit, and traditions are some major selling points for me. Go Bucks! This year, it's time to jump in mirror lake, ace biology, learn a new instrument, and go greek! (And OSU has all the resources to help me do it.)

Academics

The classes are huge for courses that everyone needs to take (gen chem has hundreds), but honors classes/ specialties are very small (around 30 people). Professors vary greatly. Some aren't helpful at all, but some do genuinely care. Your workload depends on which classes you sign up for.

College Life

Go to free events! The Union always has tickets for something fun to do. Join a club or two; it makes life better. It allows for leadership experiences, friendships, a new skill or hobby, and a lot of fun; it breaks the monotony of the classes and homework. It's usually pretty safe. I don't go off campus much.
