The School of Advertising Art (SAA) in Kettering, Ohio, offers a comprehensive two-year degree program for aspiring advertising professionals. SAA students also get professional work experience and the majority of graduates get full-time work shortly after graduating.
In their first year, all SAA students take the same classes, which include:
- Art History
- Professional Presentation
In the second year, SAA assigns students to an externship at an advertising agency, graphic design firm or other advertising business. SAA’s career services division also helps students to find full-time work upon graduating.
SAA also has transfer agreements with such four-year schools as:
- Columbus College of Art & Design
- Art Institute of Atlanta
- Art Institute of California
- Antioch University
Those seeking admission will need to submit an application, a high school transcript or GED, a personal essay and letters of recommendation. While SAT scores are not required for admissions, applicants may submit them. An interview with an admissions officer is also required.
SAA offers several tuition awards and scholarships to first-year students. Criteria used for scholarships and awards include academic performance, talent and ethnic background. SAA also awards need-based grants and loans. To apply for grants and loans, students must submit a FAFSA.
