About IAIA

The only four-year school of its kind, the Institute of American Indian Arts (IAIA) in Santa Fe, New Mexico, has a unique mission: to provide a creative arts education to members of the Native American community.

Students at IAIA come from various tribes throughout the Southwest to earn a bachelor’s or associate’s degree in such fields as:

  • Creative Writing
  • Museum Studies
  • New Media Studies
  • Studio Art

In addition to being located in one of the most artistically inspiring cities and regions, IAIA also offers a college life that supports the artistic focus of its students, running two on-campus arts centers including its Museum of Contemporary Native Arts.

IAIA also sponsors student clubs, including those that are arts-oriented and those that have a special interest or recreational focus.

Admissions to IAIA require prospective students must submit an application, transcripts and results of one of the following tests:

  • ACT
  • SAT
  • Asset
  • Compass
  • Accuplacer

IAIA has a no-loan policy, only awarding those types of financial aid that do not carry debt with them. These include scholarships from the American Indian College Fund.
