Antioch University has always been a leading provider of alternative education. Founded in Yellow Springs, Ohio, Antioch has now expanded into other cities, including Seattle, Washington.
In keeping with Antioch’s original mission, the Seattle campus offers self-designed bachelor’s degrees and uniquely specialized and innovative graduate programs. In addition to all of this, Antioch Seattle has a commitment to the adult learner, providing accelerated programs and alternative scheduling options.
One of Antioch’s bachelor’s degrees is one designed by the students themselves. Integrating their areas of interest, they build a major that is all their own. Students in this program may even get credit for professional or other types of life experience.
Antioch Seattle offers unique graduate programs, rarely seen in any college catalogue. These include:
- Art Therapy
- Drama Therapy
- Spiritual Psychology
Even Antioch’s more traditional programs are innovative. Degrees in Education, for example, focus on modes of progressive teaching and learning.
Antioch participates in federal financial aid programs, awarding loans and grants to students who are determined to have a strong financial need. Antioch also awards several scholarships, which include those given for academic excellence and those given to students who have a history of providing community service or service in such organizations as the Peace Corps or Americorps.
Admissions requirements vary from one department and level of study to another, but generally include submission of transcripts, a personal essay and recommendation letters, in addition to an application. More detailed admissions information may be obtained by contacting an Antioch representative.
