About ACAOM
The American College of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine in Houston, Texas, strives to strengthen the presence of acupuncture and Oriental medicine in the United States by offering post-baccalaureate academics to prepare students to become holistic health care practitioners.
Students can earn a master’s degree in Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine. The program integrates traditional Chinese medicine with Western medical sciences to advance the treatment of illness.
Some of the areas of study covered in the program include:
- Herbology
- Biomedical Science
- Tai-Chi and Qi-Gong
- Tui-Na
Students also receive education in professional development and sound business practices so that they will be prepared to successfully operate in a clinical environment.
You’ll learn art of Chinese herbs and acupuncture on your schedule. Since the college aims to educate working professionals, most classes are conducted in the evening.
Tuition is set lower for residents of the United States, although ACAOM welcomes international students.
The school also encourages American students to complete some of their coursework abroad. Some of the locations approved for training include:
- Dalian Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine at Liaoning College
- Zhejiang Provincial Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine
- First Teaching Hospital of Tianjin University of Traditional Chinese Medicine
Admissions require students to have earned a bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution and maintained an average GPA of 2.5.
ACAOM financial aid is provided through scholarships and federal programs to students who demonstrate need.
