Overall

I like Glen Oaks because I have found that the staff really cares about the students and their progress. They also, are willing to listen to their students and help them in any area of struggle. I like that they have knowledgable people in their tutoring center who know what they are talking about and teach in a way that is easily understood. I think that Glen Oaks is a very friendly and comfortable school to go, and I am glad I get to partake in learning here.

Academics

I am currently in Chemistry 130 and I have Sarah Simmons as a professor! I Like the way she teaches. She makes everything easy to understand and truly cares if you start to fall behind! The work load is not much! She tells you that if you study the notes and listen to her lecture in class that you will do just fine! I have found this to be very true! It's been a fun class so far, and I can't wait for more in-depth labs involving chemicals and how they work!

Campus Facilities & Safety

The campus is a very nice and clean campus! They have some construction going on right now, but even with that they seem to beat the standards! The staff always says hi to me when entering or leaving and I like that, because I am personable! I find that the parking lot is easily accessible and I never have a hard time finding somewhere to park. I feel very safe at Glen Oaks during night classes, because there always seems to be staff in every corner! Over all, I enjoy Glen Oaks Community College and I am proud to be a student there!

Glen Oaks is a great school. Their staff is amazingly thoughtful, and helpful. To prospective students, I was scared my first semester, honestly, who isn't, but just go with the flow, and don't be afraid to ask..

Academics

Glen Oaks has a wide variety of classes, some are full, some aren't. The professors are extremely nice, and are very helpful, and the workloads aren't to heavy. Glen Oaks is a great community college.

Campus Facilities & Safety

Everything in Glen Oaks is very nice, the halls, the labs, the lecture rooms, their completely organized, and they have a wonderful concourse. Parking is nice during early and late classes, and also they are completely up to date with their tech labs.

I really enjoy attending classes at GOCC. The staff and faculty are amazing! I have really enjoyed all of my classes and every professor has gone above and beyond to help me succeed. I have taken many classes and although I have enjoyed them all, I would say my favorite would be the Science classes. The labs are amazing. I love getting hands on and learning at the same time! All of the science professors provide a great lab experience and it really adds to the whole learning experience. For any prospective students, if you're looking for a college where you can learn and not get lost in the crowd then GOCC is the place for you. Whether you plan to obtain an associates degree, a certificate, or transfer after a year, this is a great school to get your start!

Academics

I feel that the class sizes are the perfect number. I don't want to be lost in the crowd and that definitely doesn't happen here. There are several options for programs of study and some great transfer degrees. I would recommend this school to anyone.

Campus Facilities & Safety

There are always activities going on at GOCC. If you want to be involved there are tons of chances! From the Science Club, Allied Health Club, and Trio, this is a great place to meet new people and experience new things.

I love that the staff is more worried about the students and their happiness rather than just getting paid. They are great and giving you all the resources for scholarships, transfers, etc. I wish it had housing but it is like a big high school. Everyone knows everyone, sports are important, and they have so many clubs. Prospective students should know you're going to get attention here, especially if you go for it. And everyone wants to see you succeed.

Academics

Class sizes are in the twenty's, not too big but not awkwardly small. The classes are all great, and have multiple times so everyone can have an equal chance to take them. The profs are really quick to respond when you email them, and many of them are very funny and get along well with students. The classes don't have an extreme amount of homework like most people talk up college classes to be like. If you use the time you have in class, the homework is easy. You have to try and have that initiative in order to pass, but that's no different then anywhere else. I also love that they make a big deal of supporting the basketball, softball, baseball, and all other teams. They support a social life.

Campus Facilities & Safety

The library is open all the time. I love that the tutoring center is there, even for those of us in online classes. The resources are great because you can always contact someone by email or phone who will reply almost immediately and solve your issues. They are designated driving areas so I never feel threatened walking through the parking lot. There is a sheriff constantly on or near campus, though I have never heard of him being needed. Glen Oaks is just what a tiny town needs for those of us not interested in the big university life.

Glen Oaks is a small community college that works best with returning adult students. Class times are very flexible to fit into anyones schedule. Glen Oaks offers great resources to help any student. The Student Services department may be small but they have a multitude of tools for use by students.

Academics

Most of the classes have a one-two assignment a week work load. Distance learning classes generally have discussion posts as the weekly assignments. A minimum of two hours is given for most of the DL tests. Almost all of the professors are very approachable outside of class, even if its outside of their office hours. Class sizes are very minimal. I have never had a class over 25 students.

Campus Facilities & Safety

Glen Oaks is working very hard at making the campus as secure as possible. Even though it is located in a very low crime rate county, a full time county sheriff's deputy serves as campus security. Glen Oaks has recently installed emergency phones in the parking lot. There are serveral computer labs in the building. The business wing has at least five smaller computer lab. The library hosts its own computer lab in addition to the 15 student use computers. Glen Oaks also has its own full time IT person.

To be honest I am freshly new to this school an plan on doing online classes. Although the last school I attened, I liked the fact that online classes were available an the flexibility. The professors were very well at getting back to me thru email if i had a question.

Academics

At ITT the classes/programs were limited but they had the program of my interest. Honestly I wish that they offered more programs just because it would of been alot easier to complete my education at one school. I did online classes so professor/student interaction was slim unless I needed help with resources. email was main source of communication. they were very good at getting back to me as soon as possible. I like smaller classes only because it allows the professor more time to help an interact with all his/her students individually.

Campus Facilities & Safety

Said previously i am doing online classes. I would say my ideal campus atmosphere would be a school that is diverse, not too big, small classroom, accessible rescourses like library computer labs an study halls.

What I think overall about the college is that yes it's a great community college, but it does have its downfalls.ike for instance the leaking issues with the inside of the building. And along with the smelly bathrooms. But what also is. Downfall of the school is that there are no ATM machines.... Some people do not have their own transportation to leave to go to town and get the cash they want to spend at the oaks Store or the cafe. But what I like about the college is that there are awesome professors and awesome people to be friends with. The best memory I have with the college is when all the clubs have their own day oh on the concourse and they have fashion shows for the store downstairs and then just fun days... It's the best

Academics

The school's classes are an average 25 person class. Everyone gets along and we all work together as a team in projects. The professors know what they are talking about when it comes to their work. They have a differen in yet great way of explaining things.

Campus Facilities & Safety

The campus atmosphere is pretty neutral, there are those people who will look like they are to good for the facility but they get over it. The computer labs are quite the little nifty rooms. They are awesome for the classes and for the ones that choose out of their free time to use for homework if they don't have resources to the Internet at home. The Parkin lot does have those ones that like to not park correctly and they are also not the greatest when it comes to winter time. Just more salt and it will be perfect. The campus safety has in fact improved by the local police officers being security guards throughout the building and parking areas. We also have in the parking lot an emergency light post. Great things have changed in the building....

Glen Oaks Community College works around your busy life schedule of your family, friends, work, etc. It's affordable compared to a four year university. It gives you an opportunity to not waste your money on the basics you learn in the first two years at a university. I like that I can afford college and not end up with piles of debt. I'll have no debt when I transfer which is half less of every other college kid that is at the university for four years.

Academics

Classes are small which gives a nice teacher to student ratio. The professors really care and help. If you want to succeed here, you may need to ask for help. Most classes are 2 days a week, and there is assignments but not overloading unless you procrastinate. Your basic courses are acknowledged as a stepping stone, required but not your focus. I'm learning a lot and focusing on what matters most towards my future career and less on what I have learned every year since kindergarten.

Campus Facilities & Safety

It doesn't have the latest technology or modern chic furnishings, but they have the resources for our success. You can have free tutoring, access to computers in the library, internet connection on the concourse (our main area for eating and hanging out), ping pong table to challenge friends to waste time, an exercise facility for students, and a little cafe for food. Glen Oaks has organizations to our interests: Music Club, Science Club, Visual Arts Club, etc. They have achievement ceremonies for students. Parking is parking anywhere, at any college. Better be there early if you want a nice parking space. Glen Oaks is also improving their safety for students. There is a sheriff on the grounds at all time, and they have implemented security boxes in the parking lot.

I absolutely love Glen Oaks. All the teachers there are great! Thge all are very nice and want you to learn. They will do anything and everything that they can to help you. They have good scholarships; make sure you appyl!

Academics

The classes here at Glen Oaks are small, maybe a couple dozen students. The teachers are absolutely great. They all want you to learn, and are very fair when grading assignments. Some teachers assign more material than others, but none push you farther than they know you can be pushed.

Campus Facilities & Safety

The campus has a very nice atmosphere. They just did some remodeling and it looks GREAT! The parking is not too horible at Glen Oaks. Regardless of where you park or what time of day it is, you always feel safe, even if you are by yourself.

Overall

Glen Oaks is a great place to start at right after high school and even a great place to go to when you haven't been to school in the past few years. It is not an overwhelming or busy place. It is a quiet and charming school where you can easily focus. The most memorable experience i have had at Glen oaks was the when the campus hosted its annual Fun-Day. This day consisted of blow up jumping palaces and tons of free food for any current student.

Academics

Glen Oaks is known for it's great nursing program. The nursing program has a very good job placement for students when they finish. Class size at Glen Oaks is on a smaller scale, but that only helps with more hands on learning from the instructors. Professors here are very humble and very personal, they care a lot about their students futures and will work with them to achieve all their educational goals.

Campus Facilities & Safety

Glen Oaks is probably one of the safest campuses you could be on. The size of this quaint little school is the primary reason for the safety. Since the school has a very small student body, it has a great campus atmosphere where many of the students have many classes with each other. The computer labs have great view over the dense woods, lakes, and cornfields that surround Glen Oaks. In the student lounge, also known as the concourse, there is also large glass windows overlooking the amazing views that surround campus. The cafe also has affordable, fresh food that can serve for a good snack in between classes.
