About Tennessee Wesleyan College

The tight-knit and pleasant learning environment of a private college, professional majors and exceptional faculty are some of the more attractive features of Tennessee Wesleyan College.

Located in Athens, Tennessee, Tennessee Wesleyan was founded as a Methodist college over 100 years ago and, with its historical architecture, still has the look of a traditional liberal arts college. The beautiful acreage on which the campus is located also makes for a scenic environment in which to study and live.

Academics at Tennessee Wesleyan feature several traditional liberal arts bachelor’s degrees like English, History, Music and the Sciences. However, to best serve its students Tennessee Wesleyan primarily offers professional degree programs, which include such fields as Education, Business Administration, Criminal Justice, Human Services and Nursing. Pre-professional programs include Pre-Law, Pre-Medicine, Pre-Pharmacy and Pre-Veterinary Medicine.

Tennessee Wesleyan deliberately keeps its student body small, rarely letting the entire school enrollment exceed 1,000. This makes for a pleasant classroom environment where students work closely with faculty and with each other.

This close contact with professors is particularly appealing as the Tennessee Wesleyan faculty have received national awards and fellowships, published books, led conferences and engaged in research.

The environment also makes student life activities particularly satisfying. As students perform with the Drama Department or join a cultural, religious or academic club, they are sure to work closely with one another and have a socially rewarding experience.

Prospective students must submit transcripts and SAT or ACT scores. Applicants are also encouraged to visit the campus before attending.

Students may apply for scholarships and other forms of financial aid.
